mupen64plus which is known to work on Linux/ARM(EL). Just need to make a proper .deb, and hardware optimized for N900.
The rar contains 2 tarballs: mupen64plus-arm-20090829.tar.gz and mupen64plus-arm-20090909.tar.gz The former tarball also contains Mesa 7.2. I'm not sure where the executable is supposed to be, but there is a hell of a lot sourcecode in these tarballs. I see OpenGL support, but you're gonna need OpenGL ES 2.0. It'd also have to understand (only) the input methods for N900. |

Nokia N900 has OpenGLES 2.0.
Why not start your own project on Garage and package properly? You won't have to use a proprietary compression format such as rar then, and you won't have to use Rapidshare service to distribute your sourecode. I, for one, do not touch software coming from such a shady distribution channel. I'm also interested in your patches and if you made any optimizations. In short, I mean, a little more information please! |

here is the information that you wish: the nintendo 64 say: author states: I rewrote the dynamic recompiler Mupen64Plus to generate code for ARM. This will run in OpenPandora, TouchBook and BeagleBoard. Unfortunately, OpenGL acceleration does not work. You can use software rendering, but is very slow and some of the textures are displayed incorrectly. Since some people are working in libraries OpenGL ES, as I am posting this is for testing purposes. When you run the emulator requires approximately 100 MB of free memory. Large ROM, or games that use the memory expansion, require a little more. Be sure to first close other applications. Because the emulator is not in a usable state, I have made no attempt to test the controls. However, the mupen64_input.so plugin seems to work. blight_input not. You need to configure the appropriate plugin. Compiling Mupen64Plus (or at least rice_video) requires more than 256MB of RAM. You will need to create and activate a swap partition on an external hard drive before compiling Mupen64Plus. If you are using Angstrom, you must install the following packages: gcc, g + +, make, pkgconfig, libsdl-ttf-dev, gtk +-dev, dev-libGL, libGLU-dev, xserver-xorg-extension-glx Some of the plugins has x86 assembly code that is not based on the arm. After Mupen64Plus building, not 'do NO_ASM plugins = 1 "to build these plugins. The table-7.2 package in the current version of Angstrom is broken. To use the software rasterizer, you will have to compile the source table, then copy swrast_dri.so in / usr / lib / dri / The original dynamic recompiler Mupen64 uses too much memory to run on the Pandora as it retains all the translated code and metadata. To limit memory usage, now assigned a 16MB buffer for the translation of the code, and if it fills, blocks of old are removed to make space. 16MB seems to be enough for most games without causing excessive beating. This code is in r4300/new_dynarec /. |

I just had a question, why is it that i see so many threads and videos on emulators but to even mention how you would be able to get games for all these emulators is grounds for dismissle?
i would love to be able to play nes and n64 games but for the intermediate newbs here once i get the emulator then what... |

Let's say I have a WaveRace64 cartridge sitting in my desk drawer (which is actually true, my favourite N64 game!) - am I breaking any laws by downloading an image of that cartridge for use in a N64 emulator? I'd be surprised if I am.
I'm allowed to rip my own CDs to MP3... if I were to download the ripped MP3 of a CD that I already own, what difference is there (other than the fact I haven't had to bother doing the rip in the first place)? |

you can always wait till some original game cartridges fall from the sky (hopefully on a soft surface), then you're legally allowed to use a rom of those games :)
or maybe some cousin was going to throw away some 100 game cartridges and gave them to you instead... ^^ once you're in possess of these prerequisites, you can download a rom of those games from one of the many sites specialized on that (just google). If I'm not wrong, you can download roms even without possessing the game, but should delete them after an evaluation period of 24 hours.. (not sure though) |

It is not a matter of the mean people not wanting to help you. The downloading of ROMs is not exactly legal, and expressly telling you how to get them could make a person culpable (I am not sure of the exact details of the law). These are things that can be googled, and that is much safer than asking somebody here to tell you. |

its not openly talked about b/c its illegal unless you own a real copy of the game, this site does not encourage piracy.
its pretty easy to find millions of games online but maemo.org is not in the business of encouraging law breaking so wont ever show people where. sorry if earlier comment sounded harsh but i thought question was obvious |

A thread for a mupen64 port already exists, the file attached on the first post contains two incomplete source tarballs of a pandora in progress project, and also the usual frowned upon "where do I get my ROMs?" discussion. I say close the thread.
This project is a Pandora one and thus first videos will feature a Pandora, unless someone here is up to the task. Hint: it's not a simple recompile but not rocket science either. |

yes it is pandora proyect , in theory recompile it, and rewritten code buff is difficult yes, i think that it was a n64 emulator but i can see that only is a pandora proyect that could run in maemo , any person try ? |

Note that this will run ??% slower than pandora (oc'd @ 850mhz). Currently with sound off they get ~20 fps in a couple of games. Early tests implicate game GL renderer / opengl ES 2.0 / powrevr SGX as bottleneck, so ultimately ~20fps may be doable with sound if they can optimize that.
On the other hand maybe not - sound is a beatch, and they have no working frameskip yet afaik. Great work so far by ari64, pickle and team. |

I might do it even though I don't own an N900. I almost bought an N810 but then I spent the money I reserved for that on a Verizon HTC Vogue phone... If there was something else in it for me (i.e. if I had a N900 or if I was getting paid :P) you would probably be playing Mario Kart 64 on your phones by now. One thing that could delay or prevent me from doing it is the packaging situation. I've compiled and run Mupen64Plus for both an IPAQ and my phone (with Mario 64 running at 5FPS due to the 400MHz CPU and lack of 3D drivers in Debian for my phone, and the iPAQ is even slower), so porting it might not be hard for me, but at this point I'm lacking motivation and packaging skill (building the deb, distributing it, and dealing with all the support requests involved)... The other thing I'm not sure about is hardware - an N900 emulator would be really slow, and I have no hardware to test it on.

wow... it's sad to see the n64 emulation is only evolving on the psp pretty well...
but there most of the roms are running quite nicely... and this although it only has a 333MHz CPU and 166MHz GPU. some of the first games like super mario 64 and mario kart are running mostly fine even with sound (!!!). so it should be possible (in order to the n900's hardware) to have a 100% working emulator on this phone. unfortunately no developer seems to care about this one. :/ it was and is one of my favorite gaming consoles. so i would love to see any progress on this project! :) |
