Can we make more attractive for girls.
How can we make maemo more attractive to women. What female friendly apps can we suggest to be developed. Lets see what we can come up with.
|
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
cant take credit for this but how about a magic mirror app using the front facing camera.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Do the apps need to be extremely stereotypical? ;)
|
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
no not at all. but we should take in consideration what a women might want.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Hello Kitty and buttons for sin, cos, tan. Worlds collide! :)

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
How about an app to remotely taser your husband if he's spending too much time in the basement reading all the Maemo Talk posts.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Two suggestiosn:
1.) Give it to Kylie and see what she thinks. I'm 33 1/2 years old, and the only time in my life that I decied to buy a Microsoft product was when Kylie (4 1/2 years old) recommend it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhre2...layer_embedded 2.) This one has good points as well (good texting abilities and silvery back cover for checking mae up). http://vimeo.com/5170920 |

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
How about an app that randomly flashes the message "BUY STEAK & BEER" ?
|
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Seriously, some female oriented wallpapers would be nice (!=gayporn).
How is the responsiveness of the touchscreen and UI interface for fingernails, anyway? And apps for social networks, email and MSN (or other IM systems) Make a orkut application, and the N900 will be the best seller phone in Brazil for sure. |
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
How about an app that keeps a database of all her clothes (I think the 1Gb app limit would have to be increased :) ) and she makes on the n900 what she wants to wear (the next day, for example)? It could keep track of what she had so she wouldn't repeat the clothes for a month...
These ideas come to someone who has a wife that loves clothes. ;) |

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Is this by any chance a serious topic?
A to B: "Heeey! Don't run that program its a gurls program! *The society knew B crime and left him alone to die with his shameful crime ... B:"In his willing letter: I am leaving all my money to firefox and to everyone else, I though I started firefox , I am sure it was firefox... firefox not IE!" --- I am bad with this :P |
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
In that case, seeing as all the app suggestions are stereotypical, what's the point of this thread?
I mean, I can't see any N900 application having any less utility for a woman as it would a man. Although, that said, here's an idea: "Time of the month" tracker. Stereotypical again, but I know some girls who actually did find this sort of app useful on their phone. (Man, I've heard some weird conversations... :/) |

Whilst looking locally for a PSP screen protector for my N810, cos the wiki says it'll fit, I came across ones which act as a mirror when the PSP is switched off! |

I have seen at least two girls with Nokia Communicator and one with 7710. So, the target audience may feel a little differently about have-it-all ugly bricks than what everyone assumes.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
I think the idea for a widget to use the front camera as mirror might be valuable for box sexes: gents please check for spinach on your teeth before dates. ;)
The menstrual calendar app is popular in other platforms, and could be useful for some women on maemo. Equally, a 'pill reminder' might not be a bad idea. If any gentlemen want to take those ideas forward, I have no programming skills but am completely unembarrassable if you need someone to talk you through what's needed. |
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
A Who your real friends really are app would be cool. It gives Karma ratings to everyone in your contact list, and organizes your contact list accordingly.
Actually this would be quiet good for blokes as well:rolleyes: Mike C |
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
I had the impression (possibly quite wrongly) that n900 arranges your initial contacts view according to 'most frequent' or 'most recent' contacts anyway, and you have to browse for the less regular contacts. I could be wrong, of course.
Not sure awarding contacts 'karma' on my own phone has much value: the point of stuff like that is to reward or punish your contacts, by them knowing they are no longer your 'Best Friend' (as I understand the girlie mind - if my mind were the classical girlie variety, I might not be here...) |

Of course we are getting make-up industrys hatred because now they cannot sell those 20e/20bucks style-mirrors anymore. And version 2.0 would order new lipstick automatically after 30 use or after 15 min use or when it is ending (or course the app could figure out what make-up thing is used and how much). Or suggest newest lipstick 'model' (advertising!) when current one(s) are ending (sorry beforehand - I'm new in this site so don't really know how you are reacting to commercial ideas) At the end app knows the way this particular girl uses hers make-up things and we could profile her and use that information somehow to help this girl make different/better make-ups. And thus lighten up our guys world also. Win-win :) |
Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
My experience suggests that most men prefer girls to wear less make-up, not more. ;)
But a pocket mirror is actually a good idea: I just added it to the 'widget suggestions' thread. :) |

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
As far as the "time of month" app, I would note that there are several stages to that particular cycle and different women (and men) would be interested in different aspects. In addition to tracking menstruation, some couples are looking to optimize fertility and others (if their are any strict catholics left) infertility. If anyone does try to write this, I would suggest doing some research into various vital signs that could be tracked.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Well a phone spammer that calls me all the time would get a nice negative karma. Especially if its that Ba****d that I just dumped last week.

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
A few ideas that, if implemented, would assure my wife takes permanent possession of my N900:
Actually, forget that last one. Mobile data is too expensive, and my kids need a mother. Oh, and this is important: make none of it pink. |

Re: Can we make more attractive for girls.
Not a girl, but just had an idea for the mirror application. How about a mirror with zoom capabilities (to spot blemishes/whatever on face)?
I know girls are really good at spotting details on their faces already, so I'm not sure if this is entirely useful. :p |
