This thread got me thinking that we should have a thread for sharing invites.

I just gave two invites for Google Voice to people that needed them. There are other people that want some Google Voice invites.

Post your requests here and hopefully some kind souls will give you the invites you desire. :)

And if you have spare invites, post that here too.

This does not have to be limited to Google Voice. We can include Google Wave or anything else of interest that requires an invite.

Mountain X gave me a voice invite so when I get my three I'll be more than happy to give two out, the third I'll save to repay the favor to Mtn.X if he needs another one.

Do people who get invited automatically get another 8 invites? if so we should be able to populate the whole maemo community in a day or two, if not, it's going to be hard to convince people to share them with strangers... :/

If it's the 1st case, please pm me if you have any to give away, I'll gladly give back my invites here! :)

P.S. i would suggest giving them away in order of "join date" on the forum, to be sure this doesn't get scammed from the outside.

I need a wave invite. I'm happy to forward on the favor to people here.

I don't have any Voice invites yet as my account is new. When I get them I'll happily send them out.

From what I just read, every GV person gets three invites, but doesn't mean you'll get them as soon as you join GV, could take day, week(s).

That idea would be awesome, we could get the entire maemo community invites and make all those iPhone users cry like little baby's as we bath in the glory that is the N900 and Google Voice.



Oh, and I can choose to ignore, so blocking numbers is another plus, along with the fact I can turn the account from a certain time, or entire day, or during the week or weekend. You can almost anything you want.

GV is also going to allow us to have visual voicemail on our N900.

Unfortunately I've only managed to get my dad a GV account (he lives in the US), and that's what I'm using the send invites out... when I get them.

I just learnt about Google Wave and Voice function, hopefully anyone with a spare invite won't discriminate against late comer :D I really fancy a Wave or Voice invite. :D

You know, Google Voice is definitely a smile for me. :)

The thing is, I'm still not all too sure on how to use it correctly on the tablet.

Right now, Dial Central is the only thing I have to lean on. Is anyone using their Voice account with a different setup?

If Google has given you the invites already, once you log into GV it'll be on the left hand side of the inbox.

I thought I would have them as soon as I had setup the account but apparently Google will be giving them out over a period of time.

I've set my number up so when someone calls my GV number my cell as well as my home phone rings. If I pick up the call on my cell phone and want to transfer over to home phone ( if my cell battery is running low ), all I have to do is press a button, pick up my house phone, then end the call on my cell, and the caller will never know that I have switched from my cell phone to my house phone...it's awesome!

If someone calls and leaves a message on my GV voicemail, the message will get transcribed into an email and text message and go directly to my cell phone, same goes with SMS ( is also sent to you via email ).

GV is ****ing awesome, best service ever. Plus I can SMS directly from my computer when I'm signed in. If I go somewhere and don't want to use my minutes on T-Mobile I simply call my GV number, enter my pin, hit #2 and dial the number I want to call and bingo, I make the call without ever using my minutes ( I have my fav 5 ).

So technically speaking you could never run out of cellular minutes, ever again!

What we need is for people once they get them is to post how many they have, and as they give them out edit their listings.

Ex.
+3

Give one out so re-edit the listing

+1 to Addison
+2 left

So that way we know who needs one and that person doesn't get sent more than one invite.

All those idgits complaining on the forums.

It's not region specific, per-say. You just can't sign up without a US/Canada ip address. And must register with a physical US/Canada phone (cell or landline).

Oh and must call from (and to) a US landline, cellphone OR a US VOIP #.

However international people (I did make an [outdated] guide on this) can register from a US IP (proxy or friend), register with a SIPgate VOIP # (google thinks it's a physical phone :p) and then use Gizmo or other SIP client to call and receive from US #s.

Google Voice is USA only as far as I know. It is definitely not available here in the UK yet. I know this as I got an invite but was unable to use it.

I would really like a Google Wave invite if anybody has one spare. Thanks.

There is a way to use Google Voice outside the US. It is a "work around" and not officially supported. I am in the US so I haven't tried it (didn't even read all the details). But if you search, you can probably find some instructions. If you find them, post a link here.

If you don't use your invite, offer it to someone here. I gave two away yesterday to well-deserving community members. :)

Hello. I'm currently studying computer science in Sweden and I'm really excited about Google Wave. I would really love to start getting my hands dirty with the client source and coding client software and all sorts of integration plugins for the n900. So I would really, really like to get an invite!
