12 Step Program for the n900
I am not sure why I feel withdrawal symptoms for a device I never have owned. For those of us who have not yet received a new device, this is a place to come and get support. ;)
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. * Step 1 - We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable * Step 2 - Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity * Step 3 - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of the community * Step 4 - Made a searching and fearless inventory of all our devices and gadgets * Step 5 - Admitted to our ourselves and to the community the exact nature of our wrongs * Step 6 - Were entirely ready to have the community remove all these defects of character * Step 7 - Humbly asked the community to remove our shortcomings * Step 8 - Made a list of all persons we had harmed, inside and outside of the community and became willing to make amends to them all * Step 9 - Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others * Step 10 - Continued to take gadget inventory and when you discover cool things you must start a new thread * Step 11 - Sought through meditation or forum polls to improve our conscious contact with our community as we understood, praying only for knowledge of pre-release devices and the cash to act on such offers. * Step 12 - Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs |

|
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
it has gone out of proportion. it is gone way and way and way too far.
this is going beyond funny. this is.. i feel so powerless. there is another world out there without fscking technology. THE RIMBOE WE HAVE TO GET TO A RAINFOREST WHO LOOKS FOR TICKETS WE BOOK NOW FLY TOMORROW WHOS WITH ME? |
I have no problem
I don't have to start yet another shipping thread. I could stop whenever I want.

Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
I too I'm a victim of the N900, I really should go off and get some sleep instead of posting here. Yet I can't help but wander how I will ever find this Michigan camping site without any of my beloved gadgets...

Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
I waited over 2 years for a Pandora, and now 4 months for an n900. Both of these devices are killing me.
|
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
You just have to look at my post count to realize I'm beyond help. :(
|
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
I don't have a problem thank you very much. I can leave the N900 alone any time I want too. I just don't want to right now. LOL!

Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
I wonder if the prelude to N900's successor will generate an equivalent intensity of emotion/anticipation.
truly these are trying times; probably the most difficult 4 weeks any gadget lover has been put through. I hope you guys come out of this fine. perhaps the following tips may help in temporarily distracting yourself from the pain.. - abandon talk.maemo.org - don't speak the letter 'N' - do away with the daily pre-order status-checks. any more tips people want to share? |

Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
*Raises Hand*
My name is RevdKathy and I'm a maemoaholic. Even to the point of sneaking in here in the lunch hour in the hope there may be more news. I already know about the higher power; I sold my soul to nokia for an n95 a long time ago. Now I'm just an old addict needing her (delayed) fix. Please don't offer me an HTC HD2 - that would be like methadone: no pleasure in it at all. Anyone got any illicit software to smoke? |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
I am freaking out, where's my sponsor, I am having a lot of trouble with step #2
* Step 2 - Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity Who is this power? how will I become sane again. Is it Nokia, Santa Claus, perhaps T-mobile, or lottery? OK, I fire up my 810 and start KDE, ok ok, I can get through this. Breath breath, stop reading reviews and play with what you have. ITT does what you need, stay calm, breath. |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
Hi my name is Snoshrk....
I don't have a gadget problem I have a lack of cash problem... oops wrong meeting :D <running from zombies> Avoid the meeting down the hall... I hear they're serving Juice....Apple Juice.... </running> |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
Hello, I'm Suurorca.
Unlike you miserable bunch, I don't have a problem. Yeah, sure I check my pre-order status hourly and browse this forum for hours and hours on end... and desperately google for ANY news ...! No wait... Ok. Let's start all over again... I'm Suurorca and I'm a gadgetaholic. I first understood I wanted an n900 just a few months ago. Now I feel my life doesn't have any meaning until I get one. But Nokia shall provide, in Nokia I trust, Ame... *broken sobbing* |

I rest my case. <pours another glass> (I didn't actually find any good absinthe in Amsterdam, but I did visit the Van Gogh Museum and guess who had a thing for the Green Fairy?) http://lh6.ggpht.com/_ToEtWz7RSF8/SS...h-absinthe.jpg |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
Nokia we dont want perfection. We will accept all flaws and crashes as beautiful signs of chraracter. We dont care about mainstream, or Joe public, Average Joe, GI Joe, iJoe or Angelina JOEllie. OK maybe the last one...... We dont want Capacitive, multi touch, or a gazilliion Extras in the store. Just ship the friggin gadget.

is that an N95 I see in your handbag? Admitting a gadget problem exits is the first step to self help..... NOW GET BACK IN THE QUEUE :D Mike C |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
An n95, a c905, a netbook with 3g dongle, mouse and flash drive, a pager (for work)... my handbag looks like an alcoholic's dustbin on a Sunday morning!
But no.. I don't have a problem. It all depends on your definition of 'problem', doesn't it (as in "Drink problem? I drink, I fall over - no problem!") I look forward to getting my n900 personally delivered from Finland by a handsome Finn who will stay over till I'm fluent with the thing. Delusions are not a problem, are they? |

I don't believe in any higher power, I guess I'll be addicted to Maemo goodness forever...
What a shame. |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
Hello my name is Alex and I too seem to be developing a Maemo problem.
I find myself setting up my contacts in the SDK ready for my N900 to arrive. I have even considered ditching Mandriva on my desktop, instead switching to Debian so I can have the SDK installed on my main PC. I have Ubuntu on my laptop for the SDK, and I HATE Ubuntu! |

I caught myself trying to read a new review this morning. In Dutch. I don't speak, read or understand Dutch. But did that stop me?

While this prayer is in the first post, its known as the serenity prayer, used in most AA meetings. The "Lords Prayer" is "Our father who art in heaven" you get the idea. Either way, neither of them has brought me a n900. Still working on step #2..... |
Re: 12 Step Program for the n900
The N900 is slimmer than any Droid 0mmx0mmx0mm:D
