not sure what to make of it...some damn good special effects though. Kinda freaky. I like it though. I actually hope this is part of a series of commercials that tell a story or something.

i think it is pretty cool, but very hilarious that the next videos that show as options to watch right after it was done are all sesame street! :D

lmao

The Nokia on the n900 sticks out kinda weird visually in that commercial. But if you look at other pictures of the device it doesn't stick out as much visually.

I think this is what Ari Jaaksi meant when he said that the N900 is a little bit dangerous.

Re: New Nokia Ad

I first watched the English version, afterwards I found there's a version with German subtitles.

Again, translation is somewhat strange. When at ~00:44 the guy says "decent OS", it's translated to "economical OS". I'm not sure if this is what "decent OS" is supposed to mean in this context.

There's other examples... but well, this is the company that in Ovi store translates "Utilities" to the German equivalent of "public facilities". I hope they don't pay for the translation service.

No, I think it should mean "decent" as in "not running around the forest naked".

Re: New Nokia Ad

I loved this advertisement. Presents the thing as having rough edges, as it has been conceived, and talks openly about being open-source and open-ended --- I loved this!

I am sorry to bring up comparisons to the competition, and I hope you don't feel it's lame to do so. But think about whatever marketing there is of Android phones. Do they advertise it as an open-source system? No way. It's just "Goggle's stuff... and it runs Linux, but you won't even notice." And the iPhone: The thing is just a cute slab with really smooth edges, and is absolutely complete. A "perfect solution".

The advertisement puts the "smooth and complete solution" as BO-RING. Just what it is. The N900 is a crazy stuttering genius that turns into a digital Shub-Niggurath and hurt people with it unharnessed power!

I loved the obvious Marshall McLuhan reference. Feels very good to know that the people involved in the N900 and its marketing are thinking on these terms.

Now is it good for the market? for the American market? Is that the thing people want? I don't know. I don't think they are trying to fulfill some obvious role that people are expecting them to. I think they are trying to give the next step, they are going for the higher path of teaching people what they want, setting the trend. I am all for it.

Why don't they say that in the specs, then? That makes up for a lot of flaws... "Guy, dark type, can cook, 'always on' and lasts for hours :p , full warranty, easily fits your pocket, can be silenced..." - I'd buy that for a lot more than €600,- and never complain about missing MMS.

We should write that on the "how to make the N900 appeal more to woman" thread. :)

I should have been more specific: a psychotic guy. Thanks, I work with enough of them not to want one at home. ;)

Re: New Nokia Ad

hehe... maybe even too good:
the mainstream media here write about the ad, but not about the N900 itself :D

Anyway, the readers seem to like it.
