guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
so if apple sells 3-7 million iphones per quarter, and nokia was selling 3-5 million E71s and N97s per quarter, how many sales and preorders do you think are already on the books?
500k? 1 million? considering their presale pricing has been pretty aggressive, with phones to be found from $450-$550, once its out en masse for $400 this will be a record setter for nokia for sure. they may have sold that many units in the past, but not combined with flagship unit prices. i cant see how this cant double-outsell the n97 that did 3 million in its first 2 mos. |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
From what I've been told.
In the UK: MPD - 10,000 (sim-free/contract orders) Nokia Retail - 4,000 Nokia Online Shop - 45,000 Total: 59,000 pre-orders. Not 100% sure about the NOS figure but the other two were correct as of Tuesday gone. |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
Those are some real nice numbers.
Obviously not launching the N900 in Asia was a good choice! </sarcasm> |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
pretty sure the pricepoint will put a damper on USA sales. guess we will see.

what is it that people you think were expecting? my expectations of this device were low, mainly because its a 1st gen device, and honestly a pretty raw product. no i didnt think this device would be like other smartphones, and thats probably why im not dissapointed. get real people. the bleeding edge isnt all fast paced glorious tech porn. its a ****ed up place where the people who give a flying **** strive to make things better for the masses. this my friends is a fact that is nearly never accounted for, and should more often be. bad hardware is bad hardware. happens to everyone once or twice. i can say that the build quality on the device is stellar. no issues for me. point being, patience everyone...things will get better. alot better. the more of these that are sold worldwide the better for the community. wait and see. |

Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
Seeing the sales figure for Asia, it's huge!
I'm not sure why N900 isn't hitting the Asian market yet. Nokia will make loads... Also noticed - Nokia announced and commenced shipments of the Nokia 3720 classic, a rugged handset designed to resist water, dust and shock. Love it. Probably gonna get myself a 3720 when I go hiking! instead of carrying the useless N900 while in the jungle :p |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
obviously, they sold more than they produced.
or what exactly is the reason i still dont have my n900 in my own hands? |

The amount of sold touchscreen devices will definitely go up A LOT. The 5230 has a really good price/performance ratio, and will sell better than the 5800 because of it. And the N97 mini, X6 and N900 offer a very strong high-end consumer product (all-round smartphone, music/fashion focussed and cutting edge slightly geek oriented). I wonder if/when Symbian touch devices will pass iPhone in total units sold. The same for Maemo and Android (also if/when). |

Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
I agree with phreck, all this is very similar to Linux for me in general. I get excited whenever Yum/Apt tell me there is huge *** update to my Linux systems. Sure sometimes things just break but you also get upgrades and new features. I am pretty sure Maemo (N900) experience would be similar as well from what people do so far with the previous NITs.

it maybe a pretty raw product, but it certainly isn't a 1st gen device. it's just that they decided at some point that they throw all their (phone- and tablet-) experience overboard and make it look like a first gen device... |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
I think the reason why Nokia N900 isnt releasing in ASIA because NOKIA THINK Asian people got very little tiny hands lol. And the device is too large for the little hands to hold and operates.
Obviously NOKIA will make a Nokia N900 - Mini to tackle this issues for ASIA release. hehehehhahahah |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
found this..
This site got: 15685 order http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/...!#Availability that is the amount on hold waiting for the shipment pre-order. |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far

I'm sure the number of units sold will increase significantly once people can start buying the device from their favourite retailer and not have to hop around like a flea circus trying to find somewhere that has it in stock. |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
im calling bs on that blt site.. i can't fathom over 15,000 people ordered a $600 phone from some place none of us have heard of before we all got bored waiting for our phones to ship and started googling. and if that place was doing that kind of business, enough to order over $13 million worth of stock for a single product, you'd think they'd have enough money to make their website not suck.

Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
I remember I was in the Philippines/Thailand (Asia-Pacific) a few years ago, and the top of the line Nokia and SE were regarded as the best mobiles. This is anecdotal, and based on the people/shops I encountered.
However, I've always had a feeling that most people thought Nokia was Japanese. のきあ・ノキア. It sound Japanese phonetically.... at least. Maybe its just me. |
Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far
I agree with dgeros, sure you see iPhones and Motos around, but the vast majority of the phones are either Nokia or Sony Erricson. But now a lot of Chinese brands are becoming common place and Samsung is catching up as well. I still see strong growth for Nokia devices, for some reason people are willing to spend $500 for a E72 where I live.
