Anyone having problems with album art?

Hi,

I’ve just uploaded a hundred or so songs and the only problem is that player having a lot of problems with album and shows wrong graphic from time to time, once it is OK and next time when you play that soong it can be wrong, actually you never know what you’ll get, it’s like it loads random graphic ;)

Thx in advance

I would also like to know how to add more categories to video player? There is only films category and I don't know how to add more and how to asign video to certain category? You know, I would like to have categories like recorded, sopts, trailers, movies.. . . .

Oh oh. Hope this isn't a common problem. I am obsessed with album art. Spent like weeks sorting out album art for all my songs. If the phone has a problem don't think I will be able to use it. Anyway just charging my phone now for first use then will transfer my media to the device. Will let you know if there is a problem.

By the way is your album art embedded? When I got my N97 I discovered alot of my album art was missing. I then discovered it was because I use Windows Media Player for ripping and Windows Media Player did not do embedded art in the past but rather just saved the album art in a folder. But either N97 did not do album art from folders or my music had been moved to new folders. My newer songs which were embedded showed fine. Could that be problem you have?

Can you come up with some specific examples where it goes completely wrong? Or even a screenshot of "random graphic"?

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

put the files through a tagging tool like Media monkey to make sure they are tagged correctly. make sure the art is embedded, tagged as cover.front as well as to make sure you dont have multiple album arts attached.

I never understood for what having embedded art is useful if this can just be downloaded on the fly from a server?

Alot time servers give you the wrong info.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

Transfered a few songs and don't seem to have any problem with album art (thankfully). All my album art is embeded.

By the way where is the Panucci software for this device? Isn't it ready? Couldn't find it amongst the list of apps.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

I have most of the album cover images missing and can't figure out why. I've placed them as cover.jpg (and tried also folder.jpg) in the same directory with the corresponding music files but only few album covers are displayed. I don't get the logic. It seems that they are displayed at random.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

I'm almost certain that you'd need to embed the .jpg cover into each track/mp3 file. IIRC, winamp has such an option.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

Yes, embedding the cover art most probably works, but why SOME of my cover.jpg's are still displayed without embedding those..? This means that there must be something wrong somewhere. Does anyone know what's the easiest way to embed cover art on Ubuntu? Does Ogg Vorbis support this?

if you have 5000 tracks then downloading album art for them can be very painful. Especially if you move those tracks between devices. With embeded art the artwork stays with the track, once you have done it you never have to do it again.

I use Wine + mp3tag.

I had that problem on my n800 in Canola a year ago so for my entire mp3 collection I embedded cover art and additionally also put a folder.jpg for each album.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

I figured that all my Ogg albums have no coverart displayed although I've embedded coverart for them as well. I also have two albums (both 320kb/s although I have many other 320s that work) which won't display the coverart in the media player, but the media player widget does, which puzzles me a lot... I am using mp3tag 2.45a to tag my mp3s/oggs

make sure that your album art is tagged as "Cover.Front" if not you will get strange behaviour depending on the application

I also don't get cover art for OGG files, just the generic turntable graphic. Also, OGG files aren't grouped as an album, they all go in unknown.

Re: Anyone having problems with album art?

does the n900 talk nice to WMP 11 as a 'device' ? I know my nokia 6121 does not pick up the album art retrieved 'automatically' by wmp but shows all art that was copy n pasted in wmp. Not that I want to do that for all my music :-(

I never tried it. I put all my songs in my micro sd and never have a
problem playing it
