So, what do you know about next major FW release for N900? Everything about it post here!

I know these, but I'm not sure...

• MMS
• Portrait mode
• FM radio official

And it should be published on turn of the year. Am I right?

Who has promised anything about MMS and official FM radio support for next patch? Only thing I have heard that is straight from Nokia is Portrait support for the browser (and not for anything else).

I hope that the portrait mode is also for SMS and not limit to only the browser since it probably won't be as useful imho....

PLEASE fix email, contact, exchange, and calendar support. How this was released not working properly is beyond me.

The only thing I've heard confirmed is compatibility with Three (3) simcards.

Anyway, lets not speculate - let it come when it comes, a surprise if you must :) :)

There is a patch for Modest that improves functionality with large IMAP folders that is in the development firmware so it should be included in the next release.

When will we even get the update? The support guy I talked to about a week ago concerning my GPS assured me that it is guaranteed that a FW update would be release on the 1st of this month. Obviously we haven't got anything yet.

Well, I believe it was said to come out by 25th by Nokia.

I would expect:
- Minor bug fixes
- Minor performance optimizations
- Portrait mode on the browser

Any other new features / enhancements are a bonus.

All dates from nokia are completely useless. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see that fw update until mid late Q2 2010, though the date Nokia gave was before christmas 2009 lol.

that was also mentioned on the forums by peter. search for it. i wouldhave searched and added the link but i am on N900, and i do not feel like doing it. maybe that will improve peoples habbit of searching:D

No, you are not. No idea who told you about MMS or FM radio official. (Why are people keen on official if inofficial works week?!)

I hope they add complete portrait support (not just browser). Even if it's just basic functionality, it is sometimes much more convenient to operate it in portrait mode.

i hope we get hulu support :)

its really really choppy, like 1 frame every 5-10 seconds, and the sound is way way off

YOu can look at the bugtacker, there are quitmalot of fixed bugs there that havent yet made it to live fw.

Apps are made by 3rd party developera "d not nokia. Hulu and other heavier flash video ight start working when and if flash 10.1 is ported to the N900 sometime in the first half of next year.

The only "official" fixes for the N900 that have been released are in the bugtracker. Everything else is rumours.

I know that portrait mode for the media player is in the pipeline (may not be included in the next firmware), don't expect it everywhere else in the short term.
The main focus will remain in fixing bugs, all "nice to have" improvements will follow later.

Is portrait mode that useful on N900 (other than on media player and maybe sms)? On the web browser doesn't the wide screen and screen resolution mean you can see the whole width of the website? If you switch to portrait don't you take away that benefit? I would have thought when browsing it is better to scroll downwards (as you would on a PC) than sideways.

The main benefit of portrait mode is of course one handed operation. However, I don't even see how I could operate this with one hand since it is so big and also I use my index finger and nail. I would find it difficult not using my nails and using my thumb nail doesn't seem like it would be comfortable and you need to use your thumb for one handed operation.
