Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

Driver installation fails when pairing N900 with a PC running Win 7.

Driver installation details show a “BT remote control" gets installed followed by 3 different "peripheral BT device" searches that fail.

Cannot connect to PC. Do others have the same issue? Any work being done on this?

Did you try using Nokia's PC Suite instead?

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I am facing the same issue. Nokia PC Suite leads you back into the system's standard pairing through W7. Any idea? It is ridiculous. Exchange server utility for Gmail doesnt work too. I hate cables! I do not want to use them every day for synchro...

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

It is not clear if Nokia or Microsoft is expected to act on this.

BT drivers don't tend to be at the level of complexity that requires months of work.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I'm having this bug too, and with the added bonus that trying to get the Bluetooth connection working, completely budged my PC Suite installation, and it wouldn't recognize the N900 even with a USB cable.

It's too bad, that Nokia sucks this much with regards to providing functioning synchronization software..

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I have a similar problem ever since I upgraded PC-Suite to ver. 7.1.40.1 - prior to upgrade PC-Suite functioned normally (in it's partial manner).

I'm using Windows 7 PRO x64 with Data Cable CA-101.

I can no longer connect my phone to the PC in PC-Suite-MODE (it still connects in Mass-Storage-MODE).
When plugging the cable I get the following message (by the OS):
"Device driver software was not successfully installed".

Clicking the error baloon brings up a list of 5 drivers:
- Nokia N900 USB Phone Parent (Ready to use)
- Generic Phone (No Driver Found)
- PC Suite Services (No Driver Found)
- SYNCML-SYNC (No Driver Found)
- Nokia N900 USB Modem (Ready to use)

In Device Manager (Windows) the three "No Driver Found" devices are shown with an exclamation mark.

Attempt to locate and install driver software manually (pointing to PC-Suite's location on hard-drive) gives the following message:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it."
(Nokia N900 USB OBEX/Nokia N900 USB Generic)

I've attempted to uninstall all NOKIA software and ran the PC Suite CLEANER. However, sub-sequent re-install (including older versions) didn't help.
All installations were also attempted in XP-SP2 compatibility mode and Run as Administrator was checked.

Interesting to note that the phone still connects to my Laptop after a similar upgrade. The Laptop is running XP-SP2!
So it certainly looks possible that this is a Windows7 drivers issue but in my case only with the new PC-Suite.

I see that you've stumbled upon this problem quite some time ago, Have anyone found a solution to this issue?

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

hey guys I have lots of past experience dealing with bluetooth stuff and just recently started to heavily test some N900 programs that use bluetooth.

microsoft/broadcom bluetooth stack sucks for advanced compatability its really only good for super simple stuff.

Find a external bluetooth adapter that uses the toshiba stack or best yet bleusoleil for much better compatability.

Bluesoleil also works with many many other bluetooth devices even if its not the default stack. All of my laptops have used broadcom stuff stock but bluesoleil worked with them all.

Visit there site and download the trial to see if it works for you.

I have these same issues. I can send a file form the PC to the Phone but not the other way around. I also can sync with outlook thru PC Suite. But get the install errors.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I can confirm that it works on windows 7 with windows virtual pc (basically a mini windows xp for windows 7) works just like a regular windows xp when you put it in full screen mode. Its free, about a 500mb download. I installed ovi suite on that, and my bluetooth adapter, and now it works perfect

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

it worked fine for me on both my win7 booklet 3g and my desktop, until i dl'd and installed the pc connectivity software and the other bluetooth connectivity software from the devel repository. after that, nothing worked!

i even trie dto uninstall it, no go.

tried to reinstall it, and change some settings back, then uninstall it, no go.

i started by reinstalling the OS with NSU, and then reinstalling all my software from scratch and resyncing all my contacts/etc, but did not install either of the products mentioned. IT WORKED JUST FINE LIKE THE FIRST TIME.

those products made a mess of my bluetooth connection. spent hours messing with my pc and bluetooth adapter. dl'ing broadcom updates...nothing worked except a clean boot to get rid of that software.

since then, i created a "clean" backup of a well running set up so if i have installed software, i only have to use that update.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

SOLVED: Bluetooth peripheral device driver solution - Windows 7

Bluetooth Driver for nokia n900‎
N900 Bluetooth Problem‎
Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth‎

1) install the bluetooth device driver such as the one that comes specific to your PC..,
(note: vista & win7 has default bluetooth driver, so every thing may work fine but install the specific one)

2) Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...-download.mspx
this works for both Vista and Windows 7.
Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configured the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do

3) Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.

- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'

- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.

- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.

- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".

- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not Microsoft.

- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.

- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.

Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.

that's it you are done

THIS WORKED FOR ME AND I AM ENJOYING BLUEMAEMO ON MY N900

INSTALL BLUEMAEMO FROM EXTRA-DEV
(use with caution, since programs on ectra-dev may not be stable)

start bluemaemo on N900
click "waiting for connection"
right click on your phone in win7 and click on properties
than find services tap and wait till populates
choose driver for mice and keyborad and file transfer and bingo after apply win7 installed driver and now i have bluetooth connection and works great

@aathava

Didn't work for me.

I tried making the BlueMaemo connection and the PC says "Parameter is incorrect".

My problem is I can't send a file to my PC. Even though I can Sync OutLook and do other things.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

The resolution didn't help me either. I followed it step by step. I also used a Nokia 5530 also using this method ending with the same results. The only diff is that there is only 1 bad device vs the 3 that the n900 gives me.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

*PROBLEM SOLVED ANOTHER WAY*

Ghost301 post at sevenforum fixed my problem

"Click Start button, type "services" into the search program and files box. This brings up a list in the menu, select Services. This should open a list of local services on your system.., Find 'Bluetooth Service" and make sure it has started, right click and set to 'automatic' (mine was already set), Select "Bluetooth Support Service" and start, set to automatic (mine was set on manual)"

This didn't work for everyone, but for some, including me, it did.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

Bluetooth is definitely one area where linux is much easier than windows. In linux it simply works. On win7 it keeps treating my N900 as external audio device and tried to play sound through it. Weird. :)

Does not work.
After verifying the Microsoft Genuine Disadvantage the installation stops because "Processor is not supported" (an AMDv140).

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I've bought a Win 7 laptop, & can't connect via BT to my N900 (my old XP laptop would).

What is interesting is that after going through the sequence above, the N900 still shows in the list of BT device, but as having a problem: missing the BT peripheral device driver. Under operations for the Device, it has
Listen to audio from your computer (N900) through this computer's speakers
Use the computer as a headset or speakerphone for calls on your computer (N900)
Backup contacts & calendar information from your computer (N900)
Restore backed-up contacts & calendar information to your computer (N900)

The first 2 options have Connect buttons, the 2nd two are greyed out. when trying the first one, a little player labeled in the taskbar as "Remote Control N900" comes up but seems to do nothing.

Are those functions available on the N900? Or has the driver for some other phone been installed?

Oops, I could have just used a screen shot.
Is this what other folks get when they pair the N900 with a W7 computer?

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

yup...that's about right....
and not just for the n900...n800 too.
Haven't tried the n810 on win7 bluetooth yet.
But I imagine it will sum itself up the same.
On XP I don't believe I had a prob with bluetooth.
Best suggestion would be to use admin rights...compat settings and install proprietary drivers for xp or vista (vista may be more compat with win7 os...shouldn't be too bad tho. with xp drivers)
and jimmy the win 7 to see and utilize your n900 bluetooth.

I just finished working some mitey serious magic jimmying win7 onto my toshiba portege m200...the real stunt (as if installing without an optical...proper usb support of any compatible kind ...excepting very rare and old optical drives...sd card hurdles...or even ripping out the hard drive and attempting to install win 7 from a pata to a pata...rather PITA hehehee...shame on toshiba for making this so awkward and difficult...even to simply reinstall xp...but without suffering a brain aneurism from having to think..."durn you toshiba for having to make me use my brain!"...as I shake my fist....I laugh bout it now...but it was a challenge I must say ...and took me long enough to figure it out) was finding drivers to replace toshiba's m200 drivers which are ancient and xp tablet edition specific...hunted high and low and surprisingly hp sd card drivers...and many drivers if not for vista but as well for the portege m400 worked beautifully without any radioactive melting...or high pitched screaming and then exploding. Works like a dream ...in fact.
Faster ...better... smoother than xp tablet.
So if my frankendriver experiment worked I'm sure using a single compatible xp or vista driver to enable n900 to connect via bluetooth should be no prob.
When I get enough time I'll mess with the drivers on one of my laptops and get back with results.

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

I've been having problems with the USB driver for my N900 in my W7 x64 laptop lately.
Finally I got it working by telling Nokia Suite to install its own drivers for the N900.
Maybe there's a chance for BT to start to work using this method.
Regards.

rotoflex 2014-04-10 10:50

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth

It was a good shot, but installing Nokia Suite doesn't seem to have brought the correct BT drivers with it.
