Default device lock code?

At the settings, down at the bottom, there is a menu which allows to change the lock code of the device. thank god the device does not lock automatically when i got it, but when i tried to change the code, it wants me to give the old code. But i dont have one. It doesnt give it in the manual either as far as i know.

anyone had trouble with this?

Re: Default device lock code?

From all the Nokia devices I've used, the default lock code is 12345.

The default code is 12345. It is in the manual (page 11, at least in the Spanish version).

Greetings.

You probably tried one too many times. You'd need to send it to Nokia to unlock it for you.

Re: Default device lock code?

ouch. i know it will lock you out if you get the SIM code wrong 3x but hadn't realised it would do that with the phone lock. ugh. thanks. will a new fw update reset that? (fingers crossed)

Re: Default device lock code?

firmware updates will NOT fix locked out codes.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know device lock lets you try how many times you wish to enter a code.

On the other hand, lock code for the SIM has a limited number of tries (3 I think), then you have to use the longer PUK code

Re: Default device lock code?

ok, thanks guys, looks like i might need to call nokia support. the last thing i want to do is accidentally hit secure device without knowing what the unlock code is...

Always always always install ssh !
the code is easy to recover with that...

(If you don't also forget your ssh pass :P)

Depends on your operator.
Most used are 0000 and 1234 IMHO.

Just out of interest, how?

Re: Default device lock code?

there is no limitation to the number of attempts of the lock code. to your sim card there is.
dont install ssh. get your codes right :P

Holy ****!! I saw this post and decided to put lock on my phone.. for no reason at all, i had allready set it to what i wanted... When i was to unlock my phone again it was the wrong code i remembered!!! Restarting didn't work, still lock on so i tried like ... 20 codes, while in panic.. and finally! it was my social security number :D don't play around with this feature to much..

Re: Default device lock code?

Well genius here (me) has apparently entered a number he cannot remember. I was able to ssh into the phone last night, but I restarted it and now I cannot even do that. Anyone have advice or should I start looking for bubble wrap and packing tape?

Please do explain the method via SSH. I've been searching for the last half hour and haven't found anything even remotely like you say.

This thread has a couple of methods to actually either reset, or simply brute force the password. I'm kind of guessing this is actually what you mean though? : )

Re: Default device lock code?

Now it's clear, why always always always ssh :D

Re: Default device lock code?

does anyone knows if its possible to change that lock code screen?
it would be perfect if it was portrait oriented and have a watch upside!
*hate when wake up early than i need and have to type unlock code to see what time is*
