How to connect N900 via USB?
 

Sorry to be a noob but is there some sort of special procedure necessary to connect the N900 to the PC via USB so I can transfer files?

Initial connection didn't do anything. Second connection recognized new hardware and automatically installed some drivers. Subsequent connections don't acknowledge anything.

you probably need to right click on "mycomputer" in windows and choose manage. then go to disk management, and change the drive letter of the nokia....

Could you direct me to where I can change that? I haven't found it in the settings.

As for the drivers, I'm not sure. PC detected new USB device and installed some drivers. I never had any issues with previous Nokia's so I wasn't paying attention. My mistake.

When you plug the phone in to usb the phone should come up with a selection, select mass storage device on the phone.

I guess that's a problem then because nothing pops up when I connect it via USB. :(

Edit: And of course once I write that, then it decides to do it. lol

I guess I'll tinker with it a bit now. Thanks all! :)

hi
my problem is whenever i connect my n900 with my pc,it just starts getting charged and nothing pops up like connect in mass storage or pc mode.
what shoul i do?

if you tap the status menu, there should be a button that says "Charging only". Tap that and it will bring up the dialog.

Status menu is the menu that opens when you tap either the clock or the status area (the area with cell signal indicator, battery indicator, and such) on the top menu bar.

Unfortunately no button saying Charging only appears... =( Oooh what to do?.. I'm ruined without PC connection!

Try plugging into the usb port on the back of your PC...

I found my fix, I bought original Nokia USB cable and now it works as supposed to work
