Show off your Mer screenshots
Screenshots from Mer Alpha: (1) (2)
Picasas shitty copy-control makes me unable to add pics here. :( <link to picasa album> Mer makes it possible to run most of the Original Maemo apps and most of the apps in Ubuntu-armel repo. That means Synaptic, GIMP, OOo = Ability to run many apps this far is needed to run in debian/ubuntu-chroot in our well-known Maemo-looking hildon-desktop-environment :) |

Here are some more cool screenshots of Mer:
I'm currently working with Stskeeps on an installer for the Mer progect so it shuld not be too long before everyone can try this out. :) Btw, the first picture is FireFox. |
Re: Show off your screenshots
I installed themes-os08-12pt from lancode repo, copied icons from maemo and edited toolbar backround (there is a problem with transparency) and made font-size even smaller. Now Mer starts to look "me". :p
My home-screen in Mer now: http://trac.tspre.org/meiz/Screenshot-10.png Xchat works also, thanks to qwerty12! http://trac.tspre.org/meiz/Screenshot-8.png |

All themes made for maemo i have tested so far are working without an issue, including theme-hackers cool XP and MerEcho themes :) Network-manager is working too. http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer_Blueprint_New http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer_Blueprint I have got lots of support from people at #maemo in FreeNode, thanks everyone :) Quote:

Open Office on Mer Running LXDE. I'm going to post a how-to later for n810 users on setting up Mer and running LXDE instead of Hildon.

Re: Show off your screenshots
There's a lot of apps in Maemo Extras, that can be used with Mer :)

With Nokia abandoning the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition, will we see support for WiMAX in Mer? I'd like to run Mer on my N810WE, but I don't want to lose my XOHM (now Clearwire) connectivity. How is performance of Mer with LXDE, is it a little more sluggish than Maemo? |

Mer 0.9 running KDE 4.2.1 with the new Qt 4.5.
Disable Nepomuk desktop search Enable swap And it is usable! It eats more battery than hildon, but when i am at home, i am using it all the time. :) Arora on Maemo has bigger buttons, that are easy to hit by finger. Arora is available for Mer too. |

QEMU emulating FreeDOS, FreeBSD, and NITdroid while booted in Mer 0.11 & ubuntu-n8x0 on my N800 enabling me to run software of allmost any cpu architecture :)

^ One of those proof of concepts I'll probably get burned at the stake for doing. Osso-icons from Fremantle SDK, Mer, FVWM and Fremantle Hildon Application Manager with en_US strings by timeless. I call the UI 'theme'/layout "Freemantle" ;) Based on FVWM layout by zenvoid. |
Re: Show off your screenshots
Right, some screen shots in my series of "What if we had osso-icons and hildon-theme-alpha open-sourced, and a FVWM based hildon desktop for 770/N8x0s and this in Mer":
http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/conboy.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/claws.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/galculator.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/maemopadplus.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/maemopadplus2.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/tear.png and hildon-home from Fremantle in very raw form: http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/hildon-home.png So who's up for designing/creating open replacements for these? :) |

Mer Theme I've been playing with still needs a lot of work but at the stage Mer is at I'm holding to finish it I think I will port it over to Diablo instead for now.

Mer whatever-version, the template from Kontorri's Theme Maker, some hacks and 40 lines of awesome-wm lua scripting:

Re: Show off your screenshots
Okay, this is one of those screenshots that make zero sense without explanation.
http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/mermantle.png http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/heehee.png This is Fremantle hildon-desktop, mesa SW render, running on X86 in a VirtualBox. It's obviously Mer. I wonder how slow it actually is if you cut out transitions and put them on a OMAP2 device.. |

Just a very ugly proof of concept that stylus keyboards -actually- work on Fremantle desktop. Oh, and this is on a N810. |

Please let me know what you think of the touchbook? I have been dying to get one, but there have been enough question marks to keep me from spending the money...I have heard about construction problems, balance problems (minor for me), and that they are slooow, compared to an equivalently priced Intel netbook. But they are so cool, and a natural extension for an N8x0 user. So could you PM me with your impressions or post a review in competitors? Thanks, --vr |
