how to clean screen

i want to clean the oily screen before installing the screen protector from clear protector. as the dry cloth does not clean it completely, is there anything that i can use to really get the job done?

Re: how to clean screen

when you say "glasses cleaner" as you talking about wipes which already come with a liquid solution on them? have you used this on the n900 screen? thanks in advance!

maybe he meant microfibre cloth. If he didnt, you can stil use it. It came along the n900. Cloth removes fingerprints and dirt

I used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the greasy finger prints nothing happened to the screen.

Water is fine...but water will not help remove oils such as finger prints.

Geez, cant you just get a soft napkin and some tap water? That does it all the time.

Re: how to clean screen

Use the cloth that came in the box like this:

clean with the bottom side (that doesn't have the Nokia logo on it). Also clean from left to right in broad swipes with your whole palm laying on the cloth flat against the screen as opposed to going in circular motions.

I was surprised that with above technique after 2-3 swipes the screen gets flawlessly clean.

I use a diluted vinegar solution for household cleaning. Very roughly 1/3 of store-bought vinegar and the rest water, For notebook and cell-phone screens, I soak and wring out a microfiber cloth towel (nothing fancy, the kind sold for use in cleaning cars), and spritz it with this vinegar solution. Wipe once or twice, form a point and get the edge, very light pressure, and then turn over the cloth, final wipe. The water evaporates in a few seconds, no need to blow on it.

Hello:

You might want to consider using distilled water and a lens cloth. For eye glasses and LCD monitors/TVs this has been better for me than any chemical solution.

I got this Nano-fibre wipe from Apple iMac 24inch.
That wipe cloth is great. So soft and very nice at cleaning all sort of clear shiny surfaces. Though you can't buy this somewhat or another and it will only given to their top product package. Iphone doesn't have one of this at all.

Hint: I work as an IT support at the University. Where all most 90% MAC machines in my department. lol. And Yet I love Maemo and YDL, Ubuntu and Windows 7. I'm not a MAC fan alright. Mac has a pro and con just like any other OS out there.

But I got these for free from each IMAC I opened to tripple boot Leopard+winXP+Ubuntu :D

I don't really like the Iphoney, all I like from it is the Multitouch otherwise the OSX is too closed source for me. Which I hate the most lol. I am gonna call my self a NOKIA fanboy and SONY PS3 fanboy. I hate XBOX :P

Re: how to clean screen

The cleaning stuff for glasses worked really well. Better than for glasses, in fact (I always prefer lukewarm water and soap plus rinse for glasses).

For my N900 I'm going to stick with the glass cleaner. I just used a cotton pad to wipe it btw. This may leave some fluff but it dries quickly and can be easily blown off or brushed off with anything made of soft cotton textile.

Re: how to clean screen

Alcohol shouldn't hurt your screen at all, but I wouldn't let it get in the phone-speaker on the front of the screen.

For glasses I like to use ammonia based glass cleaner and then just wipe it off. (no rinse) I find that it it seems to 'heal' the scratches, and make the lenses much cleaner.

I bought Apex Pro Lens cleaner, also available on Amazon, which I didn't see in the list. But it seems to work fine.

Also, the description in the message above this one says there is a "pretty complete list" on glasses cleaners. I didn't see a pretty complete list. I think the message above this one is SPAM.
