VGBA Save Issues

Hi,

Does anyone experience save issues with VGBA games? The Pokemon series I get save issues such as [Corrupted save data].

Common fixes with the PC version were to change the save size to 128k but I can find no simple fix to change it in VGBA 3.6?

just click the top part where it's saying vgba maemo 3.6 or whatever and then choose "freeze state" and that solves your problem ^_^ enjoy

Re: VGBA Save Issues

honestly, this emu is annoying! i know I can't talk when we're getting it for fweee.

anyhoo, why can't there just be an option to save as 128K instead? its cool just saving the states all the time but the save states are .sta and arent functional with hardly any other gba emu's which is jsut a pain in the aS* when your trying to transfer game saves over.

can't someone make a fix for this please??? I would if I knew how!! =(

There is a way to make them work but it involves knowing the flashrom id, and i have no clue how to get it. Also watch out with some pokemon games as they require you to save with the built in feature to finish the rest of the game.

Is there anything new about this save thing?

But the state saving should work? mine is not, the .sta file appears to be in the .rom folder but it doesnt load...

Re: VGBA Save Issues

corrupted issues are from the rom itself not the vgba

i found a way around this, but only works with some games.. with some games, after you save, you can go back to the main menu (only works with games that you can make multiple files for) and just freeze state there

What if I can't make a game file in the first place to have something to save? Trying to play zelda four swords, but i'm stuck at the first part were you enter you name to make a new file, and it says the file could not be created.

edit: Nevermind, closed and reopened, and it worked.

I played Pokemon Leaf Green and suddenly freeze state stoped working. Tried also with other games and it won't save.
The same problem is with VGBA and VGB emulators...but yesterday everything worked fine :S

Did anybody have this problem?

Just curious if anyone has tried Fire Emblem. I was trying to play it and I was able to create a new game, get through the introduction, then the save screen comes up before chapter 1 and it freezes when I try to save.

Re: VGBA Save Issues

This is the top result when searching for this so I will necro this thread with the possible solution:

1. Tap the menu
2. Tap "Configuration"
3. Go down to "Hardware options" and press enter/return
4. If "6bit EEPROM chip" is ticked, go down to "14bit EEPROM chip" and press enter/return
5. Or if 14bit is already ticked, go to 6bit and press return/enter
6. Basically swap it from whichever it currently is set to
7. Go to Done

The game will reset from the very beginning. After starting a new game, try and save using the built-in method and it should work.
