20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
Hi,
Does anybody experience delays of about 20 to 30 seconds for e-mail inbox (IMAP) to update after deleting a message? Sometimes, it takes this long to get into inbox on launch of Nokia Messaging. |
Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
I have the same problem.
I even cleaned out my IMAP mailboxes, and that doesn't help either. Why is it so slow ??? |

email client just sucks: lag on refresh, lag on send, lag on delete. this is a known issue, I'm afraid

is there an official bug report on this issue? If not one has to be submitted immediately.

yes, it is: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3762
the next nokia update should solve this issue, it seems |
Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
It's curious that the Inbox disappears while it is updating. That is, open up an account and Inbox is not listed and only shows up after a while. Bizarre

Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
The email client is indeed hardly usable with IMAP at the moment. Even when a folder only contain a handful of emails, any operation, such as opening a folder, can take ages. The aledged cause of the problem is described in the bug report and has apparently already been fixed. Fix should be in the next firmware update.
Interestingly, if you disconnect the network connection on your phone, you'll notice that the email client becomes suddently really snappy and reactive and doesn't suffer from these lags anymore. |
Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
if it was only 20-30 seconds, i could live with that! but mine never completes and then just eats up that battery.
its been said taht the next firmware they are working on addresses this issue. |
Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
I am having similar problems, but to add to the lag and frustration I have been prompted through the email setup wizard on several occasions now. Nokia Messaging seems to uninstall itself on my N900 and then I am back to square one. It's happened 3 times now.

Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
@mikec
My problems are in Nokia Messaging and are VERY frustrating. I got my N900 about a week ago, instantly set up NM and had no problems for several days. Other than only having access to a few days worth of emails, I was pleased with the interface. Starting yesterday, it has been on the fritz. It first started by "uninstalling" itself and when I tried to access NM I had to go through the setup wizard again. NM has not been the same since. I reinstalled it under the correct settings--now I have lags of several minutes to access inboxes, unpredictable pushing of email (often pushing the same email several times and getting lots of notifications for the same email), has uninstalled itself a couple of times again--basically the program is now unusable. I have tried deleting and reinstalling on the phone. I have tried deleting and adding accounts again on email.nokia.com. Any ideas? I haven't installed anything new on the phone in days so I don't think it is on my end. |
Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
I set up my gmail with NM on my N900 and it works fine but I can' t log in on email.nokia.com to add a yahoo mail . There are a problem with the website?

Re: 20-30 sec to update IMAP accounts?!
You need to clean your inboxes if you want more speed with this firmware version.
I get around 700 messages per month (and no spam, so I need to archive them all) and usually keep all messages from one year in the inbox. I had around 7000 messages from 2009 and that was way too much for the N900. I cleaned it down to one month and that made a big difference. Now it's getting slow again, since it's about a month since I cleaned ;) |
