N900 Format Factory settings

2 Attachment(s)
I've found that the N900 plays most every video codecs. Please see the attached screenshot for the settings in Format Factory for the N900 in case you have problem with the video. (att. 1)

The N900 occasionaly has problem with the audio (ie AC52), so in that case just use FF to convert the audio to mp3 and leave the video unchanged (it's called "Copy" in FF). (att. 2)

Hope this helps some users.

the first image shows what works well to watch movies. you can go higher with the fps to 30 or more if you find 24 to be too jerky when playing back.

You say it plays all types of media files...well i convert an AVI file by just changing the audio to MP3 and leave the video alone...and N900 does NOT recognize the format STILL!!

In this very rare case you can convert it to MP4 (video)/MP3 (sound). The good thing about Format Factory is that it takes any source and you can always convert to the working target format. My preference is to leave the video unconverted (if it works), and only convert it to MP4 if it doesn't. This is to avoid multiple lossy conversions along the way.

Re: N900 Format Factory settings

whats the maximum resolution of videos that work on the n900?

when a video has a higher resolution than the n900's screen resolution, will it still play, ie will the n900 resize by itself so it fits on the screen?

i'm asking because on my creative zen (not a inet-table/phone etc, i know) has a resolution of 320x240 - if you want to play videos on it, you need to resize them to a maximum resolution of 320x240, otherwise they wont play, as the zen is not capable of resizing videofiles "on the fly".
how does the n900 handle this?

Tried ripping Ironman from the DVD using the settings in picture 1. The pic quality is good but the audio didn't sync up. I wasn't allowed the option to change the audio from the AAC. What am I doing wrong?
