Missing the following in my n900
 

I think we all miss the following:

1- mms
2- speed dial
3- Network codes *123#
4- A more detailed Call Log (duration of each call...etc..)
5- Again the call log needs to show from which number the caller is calling (If his name contains more than one number)
6- Video call and activation of the front camera.

WHAT DO U THINK ALL?????

I think these have all been discussed to death!
Now quickly say what the point of this thread is, before sjgadsby comes over and merges this thread into another, creating yet more confusion because no one will bother with this request
PS: i notice you're new here. Don't lose hope, not all people here are this mean, it's just that there's enough noise already, so i'm attacking noisers with extreme prejudice

Mate, all you can do is wait for the next device.

This wont be getting anything. This is a portable linux device for nerds who like to mess with xterminal. You'll not be getting any of those requests. Buy another device! Trust me.

Of course there will be some sort of firmware update with some-what maybe portrait mode & a few other things.

But from what you describe, it seems like you expect a CELLPHONE, the N900 is beyond that. Apparently they want to make the nerds happy.

Lolz.. yeah i guess it is really made for the nerds, i dont understand whats with nokia making such phones these days.. whats the pain in putting a few more options and features? i m getting really annoyed wasting so much money in buying a phone in which i cant even make a freakin video call or send a mms.. lolz... any news on the update?

Nokia produces two devices - the one you are looking for is the n97. It has all the features you want, because it comes from the symbian line.

N900 advertised itself as missing these; it is, and God has said, a device designed for people who want to do something very different. Why shoulld nokia make such a device? Why not? They make the n97 for the mass market. And they have a business plan which involves working closely with those very people for whom n900 is intended.

We all have a 'wish-list' of what we'd like to see added. Mine would be very different from yours. But unless I'm prepared to learn code (which I certainly don't have time for right now!) or can convince one of the developers to make it for me, I have to accept that certain things will not be among n900's feature set.

The question is whether the good features of the device outweigh the ones lacking. My answer to that is 'yes'. If yours is 'no', there are plenty of devices with those features on the market. Enjoy them. :)

I wouldn't mind portrait mode, MMS (though I'd hardly use it), individual ringtones and a more detailed call log.

The only thing I truly want though is a polished N64 emulator, and GBA emulator.

Maybe I should have stuck around for the droid to come to tmo :(

To the original poster: Speeddial and and better call log should be doable quite easily due to the open nature of the device. Now that the devices are out, new apps start coming up faster and faster. In fact, you could probably do a simple speeddial yourself by creating a baisc HTML page using "tel:" tagged hyperlinks.
See this example - took me only a few minutes to make.
