How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
I used to use the browser about 50% PC/50% N95 in my spare time. Now I do about 30% PC/70% N900. I have to say that the browser on the N900 is a killer. I plan to port Midnight Commander to the N900 so that my 70% can become 80%.

Maybe my percents are not that much on the N900 side, but definitely I'm using mobile browsing way more than before. No more nagging for sitting too much in front of laptop, subject has changed...

As much as I like the N900 browser, there's something about viewing a website on a 17 Inch laptop that I just can't give up. :D

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
Yeah, the n900's browser is fantastic, but you're lying to yourself if you think it remotely compares to firefox/chrome with a full size keyboard, a mouse, and a 20 inch monitor.
It hasn't cut into my desktop time very much, but I -never- use my laptop anymore, and it means I don't have to run back to my desktop whenever I need to do anything, or even get out of bed :D |
Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
When more add-ons become available, I don't think that a lot of users would have a problem with such a browsing shift - for small and medium time periods at least.
I do think that anything beyond a medium browsing session, or a session where some type of productivity is being tried would tax the user a bit much - either to the point of redesigning the browser (engine, interface, available extensions, etc.) or just the user moving to a larger-screened (size) mobile device. *side note: I wonder why Fennec's extensions aren't cross compatible with microB |
Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
Sooner or later, the mobile web experience will overtake the desktop. Then we'll see a long-overdue revolution in site design.

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
I don't think I'm spending less time on the pc or laptop. But I'm certainly spending more time browsing on the phone than I ever did before, especially in the wee small hours. In fact, n900 has cured my insomnia: instead of lying awake worrying about stuff, getting tense and not being able to go back to sleep, I spend half an hour checking email/twitter, browsing and maybe playing a game or two, then roll over and sleep.

Well, I don't think that can be avoided, Yes N900 browsing experience is good but you still can't beat the Full screen (big screen) browsing compare to just a 3.5inches screen.
:D |
Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
oh yeah the other big advantage is my Wifi doesnt reach to my bed room.(3 storie house) So ill be able to log on using the phone connection from bed.
It will be interesting to see my first months data usage and if i need to be carefull how i use it or not, |
Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
I still think the screen is too small. Add an inch to the screen size, and then we'll talk.

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
Any browser would be slow on your PC made in Timisoara by the United Communist PC builder's union. LMAO.

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
Since my desktop crashed I was using probably 30% N810 and 70% netbook, now it's almost 85% N900/15% netbook. There's honestly very little difference between an Asus netbook and the N900 xD

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
for personal reasons, and to have a mobile perspective for our readers, I do 99% of all browsing AND computing from my N900. It was the same since the N95 8gb.

Re: How many people abandoned their PCs browser in favour of N900?
I am using my laptop less but there are still a few things that only my laptop can do such as hulu. But it very very handy to be sitting on my couch and just pop out my n900 and check my rss feeds and email without leaving my seat. Yes i know i'm lazy and i'm ok with that :)
