[Maemo 5] Tower Defence?
 

Hey guys,

Ive been following the n900 for quite a while now and finally managed to get one myself! :)

My question was, is there some kind of tower defense game coming, or anyone busy on one?
I'm kinda hooked on that kind of games so it would be nice to have a native app instead of browsing the web (not always in the 3g coverage zone:rolleyes:).

pop on kongregate, TD games mostly work on there :)
If i new how to save the games from the website i would though hehe :) :)

It might be possible to find the flash with wireshark.
The game itself is not saved to /tmp

I looked at the source from the website but the flashfile I could download stopped loading at some point.

Seems as if the game can only be loaded from "same domain".

Any flash PRO around here? I would love to see this game as file on my N900 *G*

Exactly what I got when I tried to download the flash.

(Tried to open the file via opera from my local disk)

jus sticks at 100%, may be way its coded im no flash expert but i can grab a majority of swf files withotu issue

Damn, I managed it some months ago to download the Flash and run it locally, embedded in a minimal html file.

But I can't find it anymore... I guess I have deleted it. :mad:

I have this game working on my n900: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ppgtd/

The only thing I had to do is edit the localdefs.py just change to bottom resolution from 600 down to 420. Then it runs fine.

Not sure if you need anything else for it to work... since I been trying to learn to program in python. Not sure if I installed pygame or if it came on the n900.

The fact that is it a bit... well unpolished -> not much fun playing right now.

But hey, keep going! DTD as a python clone, cool idea!

yesterday I played a very addictive game called something like tower defender on the phone of my girlfriend (HTC desire)

I would love to see this game come to the n900. or an instance of it. Maybe its allready out there but i couldnt find it.

The game is like this: the enemy has to move from the left to the right over the battle field. at start you can put some defend towers on the map. with every kill you get more money to buy new ones. The enemy cant destroy the towers but you need to keep them as long as possible on the battle field so they get enough damage to kill them. there are dozens of enemy types and defend towers types. Most towers can be upgraded in strenght multiple times, selled, or upgraded to other towers like mortars or anti air missile launchers.

At the picture below you can see the money. and the heart is the amount of enemies that you still can let pass before the game is finished.

Can some one make a port or is it allready to be downloaded?

i just wondered if there is some one that could make some game. i dont know if this game is open source but there are a dozen of these games out there on several platforms. so i guess its not that hard to make one

Since its java based it *might* run on the N900.

EDIT: Looks like it wont run on the N900, since its an applet and not a java program.

Dunno how far you will get with Ogre 3D. Although I recall seeing someone discussing N900 development on the Ogre forums.

It's about:
The starts off and continues decently where ants come out of their nest and try to make their way to your pie. There are many types of up/down-gradable "Ant Killers" and placing specific types in specific places can give you huge advantages like killing them efficiently or making the ants walk an unnecessary long distance. On the way to the pie, they either die or they sustain damage. If they get to the pie, they completely heal and try to walk back to the nest. You can highlight the ant (only one) for your towers to take aim and destroy if it falls in its range. If they succeed, they win that pie, if the ant dies the pie returns to the platter and there are several peices. After a while you notice the game is very difficult and that you have to familarize yourself with all the weapons, tactics and start a fresh new game without making mistakes and spending your money wisely and as soon as possible.

Actually it predates to Starcraft's Turret Defenses, but yeah they are the best type of games ever :)

Quite possibly there are already debian games such as tower defence out there. Wich then can be easily ported to an N900 app ;)

But I am no expert or programmer, so I cant do it
