Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
Man, I was quite disappointed when I woke up this morning and look at my N900. I clean it with micro-fibre cloth and found a few marks on it very light scratches about 3.
Does anyone have scratche(s) on their N900 already? Without screen protector that is. I'm on the other hand still waiting for ClearProtector screen protector. But this really upsetting me that the coating on the N900 really is terribly thin and even just wiping it can scratch it. |

Yea I can't find any protector in NZ though. I've ordered one from clearprotector 11days ago. But still waiting and hope it get here very soon. NOKIA should have thought about it and given us a standard screen protector out of the box.

Not yet, but have had a few scares, luckily they were just debris that came off with a little cleaning.
No screen protector (have never liked the feel of them), but I do carry my n900 in a felt lined leather belt holster. |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
put on a zagg as soon as I got my n900. Scratches are guaranteed if u do not use a protector.

Now ordered zagg cant wait for it:). This video was posted somewhere here but for those who did not see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tgNdRm-iJs |

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
yeah the screen resistance is quite bad comparing to the N97.
It can easily scratch from the micro-fibre cleaning. I'm going to take good care of it from now on and wait until my screenprotector is here. Then I'll put it on right away. |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
dropped my n900 at starbucks, it landed on its side:( but there is only one scratch to the metal frame. its not that bad :p
oh no scratch on the screen yet:p |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
arhhh so I guess I am the less fortunate one. Lol. Woke up and clean my N900 then OMFG.... 2 light scratches ... then look closely OMFFFFG another 1. Now I'm covering it with the Micro fibre cloth.

Try a clean micro-fiber cloth slightly moistened with a 50%-50% isopropyl alcohol water mixture. |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
i scratched mine using the stupid stylus. you can see one right to left scratch from using browser history and two tiny ones from scrolling. needless to say i dont use the stylus any more (not until screen protectors arrive). i also use lcd screen cleaning gel/solution on it daily now, just in case.

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
i didn't scratch mine with the stylus, but it did get scratched. i bought the vikuity 200, but it did take down sensitivity noticibly. i'm close to taking it off.

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
lol damn stylus the scratcher.. I think my micro fiber is dirty. I got like 5 pack of micro fiber cloth anyway. All from Apple iMac. Now I got my mum to turned it into a pocket friendly pouch lol so i can slide my N900 into it also it can be very handy to protect from pocket dust.
So far so good. The N900 is less dirty.. |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
I have had mine N900 for a three weeks now and I did not bother with protector, and still I don't have any scratches on screen. So I don't think that scratching is an issue, as long as you don't throw your device or try scracth it on purpose

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
F*** I suck! I can't put on a screen protector.
By the time i decided what position is right there was so much lint and dust falling onto it I got bubbles no matter what I did and it looked like crap and removing the lint/dust became impossible. Next time I'm going to find a clean room at work and put on gloves and f'n buy 3 of them until i get it right. I use a silk bag that was made for safety/sunglasses to hold the N900. |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
best way is to do it in the bathroom with the fan on. a clean one. hold ur breath also lol.
also i orderd a ZAGG screen protector as the one i have now is missing the speaker hole. i also have a light scratch. does anyone know of any solution to remove the scratch? |
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
I had my InvisibleShield at hand by the time I got my N900. Applied it nicely and no scratches whatsoever on the screen, and nowhere else on the phone either as far as I can see.

Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
Any idea, if there is any thicker point stylus available?
|
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
would using the other end of the stylus work or would it be too imprecise or still too rough?
|
Re: Anyone got N900 is already have a few scratches on the screen?
That seems a bit thicker -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nokia770-fi-wiki.jpg
I wouldn't recommend the backend :D might scratch your screen even more. |

You don't really need a 'clean room' like environment, though that would certainly help a small bit. Most screen guards are sandwiched between two outer protective layers. They serve an important purpose. You have your nice shiny new screen guard in one hand, dusted up N900 in the other. First give your N900 screen a really good clean with one of those 3M cloths, make sure you have no oil or finger prints. Don't worry about tiny bits of dust just yet though. Next, peel off the TOP layer of the screen guard. Do not peel off the bottom sheet. With the TOP layer in hand, stick it on your screen as if it was the actual screen guard itself - position it in the same way, try to do it without getting bubbles, then peel it off. Do this a few times. Why? It picks up all the tiny bits of dust. That is its purpose in life. Next, fairly quickly, grab the other two sheets - don't just peel them apart though - start at the bottom or top and peel just a little bit, stick the peeled guard end on the screen and slowly pull the bottom sheet away while gently sticking the guard down - normally you can actually do this with no bubbles forming at all, but if you do get some - most screen guards have a small plastic scraper thing included - use to push the bubbles out. Easy. Job done. : ) |
