N900 Voice Recorder Apps
 

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed voice recorder app for n900 from my phone, it records fine. But it closes abruptly sometimes. Do anyone know any fix for this? This app seems to be good and useful but this problem needs to be fixed.

hmmmm i can't see an application called voice recorder, and i have testing enabled. Did you get it from the dev side?

Sounds like you need to post a bug report :)

You mean the app called simply "recorder", right?
If you are sure that your installed version is the newest, then you should report your problem to Bugzilla (http://bugs.maemo.org), or just check if another one has already reported that.

Yes you are right , it is just says "Recorder". I have downloaded the app from my n900 phone from " App Manager".

How do i take a log for this? Please explain as I am very new to Maemo devices.

First of all insert your bug in Bugzilla, then they will know what to do for you. You could take a core dump using Crash Reporter, but I'm not sure about that, if I were you I'd wait for some Bugzilla experts! If you need help in bug reporting just ask.

You're welcome. Remember to report every bug you find, it will help the community a lot. If you publish in this thread the link to your bug I might vote for it, as your bug seems important to be fixed.

Thanks. Please vote and the app seems to very good as it is able record voices even with long distance except this bug i found.

Like stated earlier, being able to change the bit dept / rate, woult be nice.
Is it possible to record from a external microphone?
N900 3.5 plug is also an audio in, hence the included headset, right?

Great ideas, why don't you report them as enhancement in Bugzilla? I think the external recording should be possible, otherwise headsets wouldn't have microphones, as you pointed out.

I am voting for this bug too.
I don't know how it got pass testing; it crashes/hangs as soon as you lock the screen to multi-task away from it, for me.
I have tried the latest version, same deal :(

This could be a fantastic app, do away with an expensive voice recorder :)

speaking of which, varispeed playback (constant pitch) is super useful for lectures

I have non-native-english-speaker friends who benefit tremendously from slower playback.

It would also be great to have the ability to record all voice conversations. I had an app on the N95 that did they very well.
I might have to start up a brainstorm idea....

Actually, did anybody else notice a hiss in the recorder application? When I record anything, the recording will have a noticable hiss!

the recorder just works fine for me .... i didn't see any issues with that. May be you can uninstall & try again

I did install the newer version that came out, or did I just enable extra-testing [??] either way, both versions I have run are the same...
I'll see what else I can do.

What version do you have rrdbala?

I just had a new update pushed to me. Is there a page I can visit to see the change log?

I really wish the App installer would explain more in detail what an update will do to my device before I agree to hit install. If there is a way to see this could someone tell me how?

You have tried hitting Details and the 3 tabs it presents?
Sometimes that provides some info, sometimes not. All depends on the package maintainer.

yes I am familiar with those 3 tabs, but there is hardly ever any info there.

Anyone know how I can view change logs for apps. I searched in garage, but not having much luck finding stuff.
