Is nokian910.com an official site?
I just stumbled on nokian910.com.
Inside the HTML of that page is a META tag with this description for search engine indexers: "Nokia N910 running Maemo 6 with a high performance 900mhz processor, 8MP Carl Zeiss camera and 48GB storage. Coming 2010" However, I can't seem to find any information about this device elsewhere. Also, the WHOIS lookup shows that the site is registered through godaddy.com, and the contact email is a hotmail address. Is this page a fake? |
Re: N910
I would say: YES.
The specs may not be that far off though. |
Re: N910
i'd say it's a fake.
|
Re: N910
well fake i dont know.
but it probably isnt an official website :P |
Re: N910
Fake or real i'm not sure, but a quick WHOIS search points registrant to Nokia Finland

Re: N910

Re: N910
A Google search with that email address pulls up this:

Re: N910
The only known OMAP3 SOC that can hit 900 MHz is the top-of-the-line OMAP3640. I don't know how far in advance TI announces their chips, but it seems rather late for a device coming out next year.
Tech rumors are so much harder to put over on the Maemo crowd. Before you know it, they've looked up your domain registration, googled you, and hacked your system. :P |
Re: N910
If the next Nokia device is coming out next year that means it's been in planning and production for a while now. Companies don't whip out products randomly, they pretty much start working on them as soon as they finish the previous one. Which is why you'll never find the latest and greatest hardware inside devices.
I'm with Flandry, and the others. I think it's a fake. |
Re: N910
its just someone getting in on the domain early hoping to make a site if the n910 does get released or to make a quick profit and sell it on when it does.
be interesting to see if its same person who owns nokian900.com |
Re: N910
Definitely Fake, Nokia Doesn't even own nokian900.com, let alone have they ever used the Maemo.org logo for...well anything aside from Maemo.org, at least that I've ever noticed.
|
Re: N910
well the registration through godaddy.com and hotmail id as a contact is definitely makes it a fake.
This has been registered now just incase if the next maemo device will be named N910 he/she will make a lot of money selling this domain. |
Re: N910
Eh.. they might not even make money off of it. Companies have gotten websites revoked from whoever squatted on it through court. Especially if it's obvious that you were squatting on it.
|
Re: N910
There are certainly other people or business that would buy this kind of domains doesnot particularly have to be Nokia. Look at all those registered email IDs that is being sold on ebay, even the weird domains (for an example)
|
Re: N910
True, but the webpage itself is designed appearing to be a Nokia device. Which if Nokia ever wanted to could point out to the court if they wanted the domain.

Re: N910
Not only is it registered with godaddy, it's hosted with godaddy. It seems unlikely Nokia would use godaddy hosting. Moreover, Nokia uses MarkMonitor as a registrar.

Re: N910
the logo on this page looks original to me though..
not that that is worth a lot but has anyone else ever seen it? not that this could be real or is something other than a fake but nonetheless just pointing it out since im bored :P http://www.themoviereviewexperts.com.../nokialogo.jpg |

Re: N910
That photo has been disproved quite a few times before the N900 was released, IIRC.
|
Re: N910
That goes beyond fake imho. I can draw one just like it in paint.net :D

Re: N910

Re: N910
The Maemo 6 device will use the same OMAP family as the N900; that's already been stated by Nokia...

Re: nokian910.com
fake as sin!!
|
Re: nokian910.com
Real Nokia sites generally don't carry advertisements. At least http://maemo.nokia.com doesn't.Which leads me to wonder if this post is spam.
|
Re: nokian910.com
Hmm... no offense, but it has been discussed a while back over here:

Re: nokian910.com
I certainly think that logo is real...if nothing else...and another thing if it was fake surely Nokia would have had it shut down ...!
|
Re: N910
The thread "nokian910.com" with five posts has been merged into this thread.
|
Re: Is nokian910.com an official site?

|
Re: Is nokian910.com an official site?
its probably one of those numpty's who register websites with company names in the hope that Nokia will release a N910 and want that site address and then pay him/her for it..
