Farmville on N900

Does anyone experience the same thing as me?
I tried to play farmville on my N900 but it keep freezing up and the browser died then unfreeze again then load the flash but its a game of freezing-ness and wait. Took me 30mins to load the bloody thing.

But when i got to the game lol.. don't get me started.. it froze again and the CPU is up the roof also the RAM.

is this flash 9.4 issues or the device itself cannot handle farmville?

Re: Farmville on N900

I don't know about Farmville, but the flash-based game i play (which isn't really all that complex) is excruciatingly slow on the N900. It's the inefficiency of Flash that's causing it. Besides closing everything else, i don't think there's much you can do.

Note, however, that sometimes a restart (or killing the process, usually) will help a lot with Flash, because it tends to leak resources.

Re: Farmville on N900

Oh I c so will flash 10 be the fix or will it be worst. Only time will tell then.
So far that I know is I can't watch HD or high quality flash video on Youtube. It's struggled to play.

I did the commandline reboot. It's faster than pressing the button and press it back on.

Re: Farmville on N900

flash 10 helps video performance, farmville (wtf is that?!?) is most probably just heavily coded piece of sh...software that uses a hell lot of resources.

Re: Farmville on N900

You can try increasing the memory cache for the browser. It seems to help Flash video's stream more smoothly. My experience with that application was not that much different than yours.

Hi. Please can I ask how you are playing Farmville. Have you downloaded an application for it? I've only just got my N900 and can see the ovi-store isn't up and running yet, so unsure how to get apps.

Thanks :)

You go to Facebook using the browser and play Farmville like you do on your PC. Yes, I'm ashamed to know what Farmville is.

I did that on my browser on the N900 and it said I need to update my Flash before I can use Farmville on Facebook. What version to I choose from adobe and how do I install it?

Not speedy exactly but perfectly playable here. Turning off that God awful music made a big difference.

Thats sad to hear coz both are like a charm in mine. However, playing farmville with a very big farm with too many stuff is a little pain coz of the screen size. And about facebook, I have downloaded the facebook application from repository and created two accounts and upload to one or the other by just selecting it.

I don't play Farmville, but Facebook works fine for me. Is the problem with your network connection, perhaps?

Is your flash plug-in enabled?
I found farmville decent with the current flash plug-in but I'd wait for flash 10 if I were you.

the facebook app in the repository is a desktop widget only right?, which shows posts, updates, no of frnd requests and all?
it only opens up facebook. com in the browser if we click on it on the desktop...isnt it"?
or is there any other facebook app for n900?

Re: Farmville on n900

Click the top part of the screen in the browser (you have to be in a webpage, non fullscreen mode)

options -> Add-Ons ->Plugins, shockwave flash should be in there.

This should however be enabled by default. Do you have some add-block enabled?

when is Flash 10 suppose to come for n900?

Bec 2010-01-25 12:11

Re: Farmville on n900

When adobe is kind enough to release it :)
But since all these years they've developed an over-bloated product that requires a lot of cpu to do very little, you can imagine there's a lot of optimization & coding going on.
Beta versions have been demo-ed last year so it's really hard to say.

Yes it is a desktop widget but it will also enable you to create new sharing(facebook) account in control panel. Activate it and in the photo viewer and media player you can share files with the share button.

Re: Farmville on n900

i'm experiencing the same thing too. i think it's having a hard time because of lots of things in my farm that it's too flash heavy. if pcs and laptops is already having a hard time with lags here and there when playing farmville, what more this small tablet can handle...

but barn buddy runs fine because it's not that flash intensive...

Re: Farmville on N900

don't forget for the flash games on ur browser like fb games or newground you need to activate the mouse by sliding ur finger from middle to bottom side of ur screen and use that to play. or else when u double tap it would zoom in and out.
