Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
Hi all.
Having solved my problem with DVD ripping, I now need somewhere to store my extensive library of 1960s and 70s childrens TV. So I need something more than the little 2gb card I popped in to the n900 just to run back-ups onto. The spec says 'micro-sd'. Does that include micro-sdhc? What about ultra high speed cards? Basically, what do people recommend? And if anyone in the UK would like to look at Amazon and make a suggestion... I have money ready to burn on Storing Bagpuss. (Right now I'm debating thisor if I'm feeling really extravagant this.. will those work?) |
Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
try www.mobymemory.co.uk, very good site, the 8gb micro sdhc is cheap.
id go for the sandisk not the cheapo version. also the 16gb aint too badly priced. |
Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
Fargus just recommended them via email - but I think amazon are cheaper.. apparently.

get it at the cheapest place, but id 100% recomend a sandisk mem card, not 1 of those cheaper sorts.

Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
I'd go for a combo MicroSDHC with an SD and if possible Mini SD adapter :)
Simply my preference as I have other devices that can also use various sized SD cards :) |

The sdhc term is explained here but basically if it's over 2GB it is going to be SDHC. |
Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
Memory seems to be the one thing that doesn't reduce in price for bulk purchase: the 16gb is more than twice the price of the 8gb. Which is... odd.
I shall go for the sandisk 8gb sdhc, I think... and maybe look to a 16gb for later in the year. |
Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
if you go for the 8gb now the 32gb will be out later this year, but i would would till the price drops

Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
I splashed out and bought the 16gb. That should hold enough children's TV to last me through an entire month's holiday... now all I need i the month of - to rip and then watch it all. I figured it would be better than trying routinely to change the card. Like many people I dislike the 'feel' of removing the n900 back.
So, when we get that UK owners meet-up, I'll be the one in the corner watching vids... |

It's been this way for all memory card form factors and sizes since the technology was introduced. The large form factor flash memory devices are cheap enough nowadays to practically be given away. In fact a lot of them as flash drives, as being given away as swag in trade shows. |
Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?
I too am "disappointed" at the pricing of uSD {16GB more that twice 8GB} since in the N900 it is more difficult to swap them than in my old E90.
That being said, I mainly used that "little door" to pop out the card to show it to people, rather than swapping in/out multiple movies. :-) |
