Nokia PC Suite stopped syncing Calendar entries
 

Life was pretty good up to yesterday when Nokia PC Suite would no longer sync new calendar items from Outlook 2007 to my N900. In other words, if I create a new calendar entry in Outlook 2007 and then run Nokia PC Sync, i expect the calendar entry to appear on the phone. They don't (any more).

I have been through a number of uninstalls, re-installs of different versions of Nokia PC Suite with no success. I am currently back to the latest version 7.1.40.1. I have also tried changing the sync direction, to force Outlook data to the phone. Also no success.

Help?

Guess not, but....you would not have more than one calender in Outlook? In my case I once used the privat calendar and that one would not sync..

No, that's not it. In fact, I created an appointment on the phone and synced it OK to Outlook. Then I modified the appointment in Outlook and it refuses to sync back to the phone.

I guess I'm going to have to call Nokia on Monday.

EDIT: Seems to affect Contacts as well. Made some changes in Outlook; they wouldn't sync to the phone. Made a change on the phone; it syncs back to Outlook. Not only that, the sync log shows the Outlook record containing all the data on the Outlook side, plus the modification from the phone. The damn thing just won't bring that Outlook data to the phone any more.

I'm using PC Suite 1.39 and Outlook 2007 (all updates). I tested an entry on Outlook Calendar and it syncs well .. Maybe I'm just lucky.

How many records do you have? I have >3000 contacts and >300 appointments, tasks and notes--a lot of stuff, I know!

I just got off the phone with Nokia N900 tech support. The official position is this:
- Outlook synchronization is not officially supported at this time by the N900. It may or may not work but it is not supported.
- This will be fixed in a firmware update that will be available this year.

Well, this is broken for me too. No Calendar or Contacts sync to the phone. But they do sync back to Outlook.

Interestingly enough, I did get SOME old calendar items to sync to the phone when I set the date range to something like 5 years. But, nothing recent.

They say this isn't officially supported on the n900, but shouldn't the PC Suite software be working on its' own? I sync with Outlook, and open up the PC Suite calendar and that's blank too.

Doesn't make any sense - this worked great just last week.

I guess I'll try to remove some of the packages I've installed on the phone and see if one of them is causing some sort of interference.

I sort of have to use PC Suite to sync my work calendar. They don't allow ActiveSync over the Internet.

Hi,

This is very strange. I was able to sync calender, notes and contacts with no problems betweeen my N900 and MS Outlook 2007 via Nokia PC Suite, until I got a replacement N900 a week ago (my screen broke!).

Since using the replacement N900, I only seem to be able to sync in one direction; from N900 to Outlook, no matter what settings I have in PC Suite. It's driving my nuts! :-) I'm on PR1.2.

I'm unsure if this is related but there have been lots of postings about problems with time zone differences. I have noticed that the N900 is set-up with reference to GMT (I live in the UK), whilst my Outlook calendar references all time zones to UTC (+/- hours). Could this be the source of the problem - in that the N900 cannot recognise the UTC time zone but Outlook can?

Just wondering if anyone has managed to find a solution to this. I've sent 3 emails to Nokia support and no reply. Maybe I should buy a filofax...it may weigh less than the N900. :-)

Just happend to me as well. Syncs ok from N900 to Outlook 2003 using PC Suite 7.1.51.0 & PR 1.3 but not from Outlook to N900 - calendar or contacts.

Worked fine from Feb 2010 till recently. Nothing new installed for a while so thats not the issue.

Anyone found a fix yet?

I'll tell you what may be worth trying, if you haven't already. Download the latest Ovi Suite. I can't recall when it got upgraded, possibly Q3, 2010, but it now has far more functionality and seems to have replaced PC Suite. I got it to sync Outlook (2007) calendar and contacts, plus it also does music and pictures. However, it can also be a bit hit and miss so be patient!:)

i tried syncing my calender to pc calender via pc suite, but it only synced one calender out of the three calenders i have, the calender is synced it shows in brackets syncronised, but with other calender it only shows local in brackets, so can we make these local calender to sync..
