Who has better wifi signal reception, the iphone or the nokia n900?
 

Yes i have these question because i want to know who have better reception or signal in the wifi the iphone 3gs or the n900

Just tell me if the n900 have good reception of wifi or are slow just tell me :)

very similar.. on wifi 3.5g and down.

both seriously quick in comparison to other phones.

I honestly figure it wouldn't matter because on WiFi, both devices are substantially faster anyway. And more importantly, the iPhone eventually stops because of it's lack of flash support etc.

N900 = Win.

Not exactly what you asked but insofar as relevant ...

the N800 can often solidly connect to routers that are too far away for the iPod touch.

On my quick tests just a few days ago, the wifi on the N900 was as strong, if not slightly stronger regarding wifi over my iPhone 3G.

I have an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, an N810, and the N900. All have worked reliably with all the wifi spots I have connected them to, although I am not really testing sensitivity as the signal is strong where I am using them.

The iPod does seem to move from disconnected to connected more quickly, but the multi-tasking of the Nokia's counter balances that benefit.

The N900 will usually see a lot more wifi access point than the iPhone. In practice however, it makes little difference as the N900 will usually fail to connect to the access points that have the weakest signal (the ones that the iPhone won't see at all). So both are pretty much equivalent when it comes to wifi reception.

Where the N900 shines on the other side is connecting to GPRS / 3G in areas with poor reception. The iPhone is by very far the worst mobile I've used in this situation. It's completely useless at connecting to a weak cellular signal and it takes ages to reconnect even after you've moved to an area with good reception. The N900 is brilliant for this. It can connect and hold the connection reliably even in the weakest signal areas.

I've a N900 and an iPhone 3Gs. My wife has an iPhone 3G.

The N900 detects wifi networks both iPhone can't see, and can connect to networks the iPhones can see but can't connect to.

Still missing LOTS of things from my 3Gs (I've given myself two months before selling one or the other), but when I leave my house, the phone I keep in my pocket is the N900 :)

No idea about the iPhone but the N900 has a substantially weaker wifi-antenna compared to N800, in places where my N800 has a 50% reception , my n900 has about 10% (use Conky to see the strength of the reception). If my N800 barely has wifi-reception , my N900 struggles to even find the WLAN.

I also tested with a iPod Touch of my sister and it's about the same if compared to N900.

Actually my N900 can detect and properly use my personal wlan in the living-room, where my acer laptop can't detect anything, so my answer is: yes, the N900 has a great reception and no, my friends' iPhones can't properly use my wlan in the living-room.
