[Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
So should we bug these guys?
Taken from the site "Waze is a free social mobile app that enables drivers to build and use live maps, real-time traffic updates and turn-by-turn navigation for an optimal commute. 100% powered by users the more you drive the better it gets. Join the community of drivers in your area today!" http://www.waze.com/homepage/ Looks like they have it for symbian. |
Re: Waze
Hi This is Daniel for waze.

Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
The waze forums are the best place to make such suggestions.

Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
Let's put some pressure in the forum in order to have a Maemo App :D
I use the symbian one on my E71 atm and it really rocks. This program is right in the spirit of open source communities :D |
Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?

an email from Waze :
"We are currently working hard on releasing waze for BlackBerry, so nothing set yet for supporting Naemo... but maybe in the future." |

would this be enough for the community port it to maemo if waze themselves dont have the time? |

Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
I figured a free GPS turn by turn navigation solution powered by the community would fit right in here.
Especially since OVI Maps has been a disappointment and Sygic is, well, you know the story... But if it isnt possible or way too difficult to bother that is another issue. |
Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
Surely it would make more sense to integrate this into a protocol and allow other applications to provide the dataflow? If that could be done then all sorts of other applications could jump on board and hence the data feeds would improve. Maybe a suggestion to the service provider?

Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
Navit still seems to be far from being stable and usable.
Also never hurts to have choices. Although, it seems that Waze has more features (eg traffic updates in real time or adding POIs from within application) and that it would be easier to create maps on Waze vs Openstreetmap |
Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
Let's hope someone will take a close look at this !
I really miss my wazer !! |

Re: [Maemo 5] Waze on Maemo?
That does look quite an interesting app, I'll have to take a look at the source and see how complex it is (as it will obviously need to be a re-write whatever happens)
