Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
Did you try turning your phone off and on?
|
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
yes, i did
|
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
have you installed anything before you had this problem?
|
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
no nothing

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
this is the same n900 you reflashed because it was having reboot problems? You might want to consider returning it, it could just be a bad unit.

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
Near right? Notification light is on the left, unless i've just gone mad?
|
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
And just to ask the obvious question, are the notification light checkboxes in control panel still ticked?

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
try reinserting the sim card and battery

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I have this issue peridically. To 'fix' I uncheck all the notification boxes, restart and check again, then restart for good measure even though they start working again before final restart.
I also have a somewhat similar issue that is tied to notifications, which pops up more often (weeklyj? I don't have mail notification light on (otherwise it blinks nonstop anyway), but the visual notifications stop when display is off. I.e. the pop-behinds aren't appearing so the top left six squares appear with no multi-window indication. To 'solve' I check the box for led notification, wait for next email to see it's working, then uncheck. I've had these issues since day 3 or 4 and they still exist sfter a reflash so I know it's not related to anything I install, but there is an issue w/the 'system'. I don't install much since not much excites me as 'must have' right now other than a few things I come across in testing and devels (like powatool yesterday). After playing with something(s) from those repos a day or three, I reflash to keep as close to 'out of the box' as possible. Most of what I install, even Nokia's 'blessed' Evernote (which is a dumb partial implementation that doesn't include what you need most: the note db!), cause one problem or another. That's why I carefully and methodically install something and reflash. Rinse, repeat. IOW, I have had this same problem and know it isn't a particulary app/library. |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I'm also seeing this problem. It seems to be intermittent. I have IMAP configured and i find most of the time the notification is not lit nor do i get an audio indication when new email arrives. Yes, i've turned the device on and off and only unchecked options, saved, rebooted, checked options, saved, rebooted etc etc. I am using the latest PR 1.2 and 10.2010.19-1.203.1.
BTW, this is even if i have the email widget on and also the email client running in the background! And yes, i have sounds + lights configured. |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I've had this problem too, or atleast something similar. Like when its charging, led should be yellow but instead its very light red.
I've noticed problems mostly when I charge N900 in my car, it is like there is not enough power to charge and keep the led on at the same time. Strange but havent worried about it too much. |

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
Ive had it where it stopped working, but when i checked the settings for Notification light, they were unticked?
Ticked them back up, and its been fine since. Not sure why it would have done it though, nothing had changed. |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I have reconfigured my mce.ini using the custom LED notificaitons and all of them are fine, apart from the "Device On" light, which (intermittently, I might add) changes from a pulsing white light to a faint and very dim red light, following the same pattern as dicated for the white light. Usually all I have to do is unlock the screen using the slider and re-lock it, maybe once or twice, to start the LED working as required again.
It could be a broken pattern in mce.ini. Have you changed it at all using custom LED / vibration applications? |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
No custom changes here. Email led just won't work. Am thinking of using the custom led setup if that might get it working again. Isvthat worth a try? It flashes and I get the audio cue but then no more led.

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
same problem with me ... MINE notification LED stopped working for any activity ... even when phone startup ( when you press power button long ) that time too .. nothing was working ...
Soln = i simply removed the battery ... and put it back again ... problem solved !!! strange ... but it workd ... |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
when my n900 cant keep up on my hardcore activities i do with it, and someone sends an email or IM, the led light does not light up. or even notify me if the device is idle, but it will work on the next event notified

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
yea the battery pulling trick worked, its due to the fcam or the HDR apps, bcoz before my phone's LED stopped working I opened the fcam and HDR applications.

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I was about to flash my N900 because of this problem! Reboot, update, re-install with pc suite, reset settings nothing worked. But sadly i used fcam too. But only removing battery was not enough for me. Removed battery connect to charger and notification charging light showed up for a second then remove charger replaced the battery and everything is ok for now. Thank you so much qwenjis you save my day! Sorry for my English btw.

Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
We've uploaded a new version of fcamera that'll hopefully do away with everyone's LED problems. It should be in extras-testing soon, assuming we don't find any last-minute issues
If your LED isn't currently working, you may have to hard reboot (remove battery) or at least turn off/turn on teh phone to make it behave, but fcamera shouldn't cause it go bad again. Apologies to everyone affected! |

I was also having same problem, in the sense my light did not work at all, i was checking out custom led pattern application,, though it might have damaged the light ( i mean the hardware) but finally its fixed now I just removed the battery once....its working.... |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
Sorry for raising this old topic. I hoped that I could solve my led lights issue by deinstalling fcam (including lowlight and blessn900) and removing the battery. I performed this and nother changes, e.g. changing the theme, without success. Now, I am a little reluctant to remove the power kernel as well because it took quite some time to make the kernel and fcamera work properly.
I don't think that its an issue with the LED settings. What I found out is that I don't get information about incoming SMS. Normally, a symbol blinks in the upper left corner when a sms has arrived. This is missing. You only got information about new SMS if you open messages. Furthermore, you don't get information about unanswered calls. If I call myself, hang up, I won't see information about this in my telephone list. However, if I accept the call, the information is available. So what I'd like to ask is if someone could point me out how and were this information is been processed (like the LED information in /etc/mce/mce.ini) or what else I could do to put the "phone" back into the n900. Thanks in advance. icke //Edit: I just received a SMS. No sound was playing, however the message center (?) was started when I opened the phone. // |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I am again opening this old problem..notification and keyboard light not working for me..tried everything (removing battery, changing notification setting from setting menu and rebooting) but, still notification light and keyboard light are not working.
Is there any way I can check that via xTerminal...some xTerminal command to swich ON/OFF for notification and keyboard light? I first want to ensure that both LEDs are OK. |
Re: N900 Notification Lights problem
I didn't read the whole thread since I don't have time to this but maybe something in this discussion may help. It worked for me at least.
