"Brushes" like paint application for N900
Hi there,
is there a paint application for the N900 that's similar to Brushes for the iPhone (http://brushesapp.com/) with basic layer support, hires export, simple brush configuration? Would love to see (and also pay) for something like this on the N900. Submono |

Yes, I know. I sometimes work in concept design (http://www.submono.com/?page_id=10) and I'd love to see something a little bit more sophisticated than Sketch.

Well, I think everyone can learn how to draw. Have a look at http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/ Great tutorials for digital art.

Oh, nice! Krita would certainly be a cool thing to have. Might actually already be a little bit too heavy for sketching on the go :)
Any word on when Koffice may be ready for the N900? |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Koffice and krita looks great. I am excited for both. How are these apps going to go for? or are they freeware?

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
KOffice is free.

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
I would really like to see something like mypaint ported to the N900. I would love to see the wider range of brushes and pressure sensitivity... Hmm, come to think of it, does the N900's touch screen have pressure sensitivity? I haven't found any apps that use it!
Gimp in Easy Debian LXDE works reasonably well once you go through the long and torturous set-up phase (putting your menus on one desktop and your drawing on another)... |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Here's a couple of screenshots of Gimp in LXDE on my N900 with a little freehand drawing thing I did:

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
I noticed that it is responsive enough while drawing a stroke (look at the wobbly little lines from my unsteady hand), but if you stop the stroke and you start another one, you need to wait a second; it seems to need a second to do something, maybe save undo information or something...
But Gimp certainly has the full range of brushes and tools. That's nice, being able to draw with fuzzy lines, fill with gradients, or use layers or whatever, right on the handheld. |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
How well does Gimp run?
I'm thinking adjusting leves on photos and such. Thx. |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Did anybody try some port/hack for (one of) the latest MyPaint on the N900? (maybe easy debian?)
Doing a quick search I didn't find anything regarding N900 and MyPaint, only thread I found is for OS2008.. |

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Hello! I installed Easy Debian today on my N900... I must say I'm rather surprised from the speed of the LXDE used, and from the fact that the Gimp is almost usable for me. The only problem I have is with pressure sensitivity... It's not working, and I would love to know if anyone succeded in using pressure sensitivity in gimp yet.

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Pressure sensitivity on the N900 appears to be broken altogether (see Bug 8435). :(

Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
I wonder is there any hope to make N900's pressure sensitivity to work with GIMP?
I use a lot MyPaint(Painter) for sketching and painting and GIMP(Photoshop) for retouching and manipulating images, but I miss GIMP's ability to use N900's pressure sensitivity. |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
Hello, there are a number of flash paint programs that the N900 can run.
Onemotion.com/flash/sketch-paint Is quite nice and usable sumopaint (almost a carbon copy of photoshop) runs a little slowly (it has layers, history pallete etc). Hopefully flash 10 (or an overclock utility) will improve them. I typed in flash paint in google, there where quite a few more, but it was late. These were the two I tested. Of course they both miss out on pressure sensitivity, which is something I love about 'colours' on the nintendoDS |
Re: "Brushes" like paint application for N900
@phase315 -- read more about the KDE Project at http://kde.org , or another example is http://gnome.org . Then, read this regarding the licensing of KDE and most other software you'll find for the N900 and other N-Series devices. Most of it is migrated in to work on the N900 but was developed elsewhere for other uses: http://www.fsf.org/resources/what-is-fs
