Today is another happy day for Maemo 5 users:

Nokia N900 software update (part 2)

Be patient if you can't see an update yet. They will come to your time zone at some point in the following 24 hours.

For those willing to go flashing instead of update over the air: Global, USA and MENA images are available.

Check http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware for instructions to flash your device.

this just looks like a lot of bug fixes - not a lot of new features. :-(

No Ovi Maps 3, No PPTP VPN. MfE still takes all folders so cant get my whole inbox without downloading 6GB mail to the phone.

But maybe better battery performance. Okay time to look for another phone.

Must have missed it but I did not see where they added MMS.... Thought I read somewhere that it was going to be in the update?

well pr 1.1 is here and here is a list of fixes..

1. 3 sim cards are compatible
2. Mfe update (now compatible with MS exchange server 2003)
3. Ovi maps update (nope...still no voice....search and routing)

#N900 PR1.1 includes compatibility with H3G SIM cards, interoperability with most Microsoft Exchange 2003 servers, and improved OVI Maps.

OVI Maps in #N900 now with better search performance and route calculation.

Have you done the 1.0.1 update? You need it to do the 1.1. update over the air. Otherwise backup & flash.

New features, not just bug fixes. Ha Ha.

I'm saving the celebration until we get a real beefy update, this update was just to fix the problems created by rushing the N900 out the door. This update was owed to us, this is where the N900 stops being a beta device, to put it in a state it should have been when it was released.

my app manager finds update and says NSU has to do update but NSU says there is no update!?!?

typical, i just get my device perfect and they bring out an update.......
and it wont work!! :mad:

Looks awkward that updating process. First reboot, showing dots, stops after a while to second one, reboot, same again, reboot, same again... is this normal behauviour or undocumented feature 'aka bug'?

Had to start it manually and same thing. Hangs to the second dot. I'm getting bad feelings about this.

downloaded pretty slow and just before end said failed to download. weird.

PR1.1. will be available across the world in next 24 hours while we are updating the repositories in the global sw distribution centers i.e. not available in all countries at the same time.
