PR1.1 - 3 Mobile UK 3G
 

Now that the PR1.1 update is out, how many of you in the UK tried your 3G 3Mobile sim and made it work?Mine works fine for calls but it does not connect for data.Do I have to do anything extra to make it work?

You'd need to type in your APN in order to access data.

i'm reinstalling everything allover ill post results. btw, apn settings for three uk are:

access point: three.coi.uk
pass : clear
user: clear

I`ve found the settings.....access point is already three.co.uk and still not working :(

Update...media players streams just fine through 3G.Skype is trying to connect all the time but no go....browser is not working

My settings were already as above (.co.uk), auto-grabbed from the SIM card. Connects and gets and IP address fine (in London W12 if that's of relevance to anyone).

It just appears to be phenomenally slow at the moment. Pings eventually work, and really simple webpages trickle in. It's probably worth blaming 3 at the moment, and looking into it if it's still bust tomorrow.

reinstalled firmware from scratch and now sim card works.

I think I've been lucky, inserted my 3 sim and it all works okay, sms,3g browsing. For a change! :D

Thats good that your 3 sim works with data.Mine doesn`t at the moment don`t know why.It works just fine on my 5800, not on the N900.

Works for me in Bristol - had my sim card in, when it restarted I didn't get the dreaded Sim rejected message any more. Connected, SMS arrived, calls work and data is great and fast.

Did anybody had the 3 sim in the phone while you where performing the PR1.1 update?I didn`t and I`m thinking maybe this is where the problem lays?

UPDATE..........I didn`t had to do a firmware update again.....after 3 restarts of the phone it finally worked!I`m happy:D:cool:

Nope still doesn`t work....it works when i restart it and then it looses connection....bummer:confused:

UPDATE.....for a strange reason when I go to choose a network manually I have TWO 3 networks! but the second one is not a 3 network....its Orange and it`s saved as 3 on the title!.....I`ve manually selected the REAL 3 and it works like a charm now.So whoever has problems with 3 make sure that you select manually your network and double check that you don`t have a duplicate 3 entry.

#$%^........it still doesn`t work!I`ve even flashed the image with flasher....the corrupted 3 settings are still there.Is there a way to wipe out everything, including network settings?

I can confirm mine wrks too, on Pay as you blow. All settings updated automatically.

Note that 3 UK did send a notice out last week saying there may be some disruption and delays in the network this week....

Mine's working fine, voice, SMS and 3.5G data.

Shortly after registering with the network, I recieved two SMSs from 3 telling me they were sending data and MMS settings, and a third text containing those magic settings caused the phone to pop up a message saying there was no change - it already had the right settings. (I don't know what it does with the recieved MMS settings and if they are stored anywhere that fMMS can use).

It did cut off about 10 minutes into the data connection. Don't know if that was the signal, or a phone issue.

Remove SIM, switch ON and delete any mobile connection still in N900.
Then insert SIM and it should pickup it from your SIM card.

(please don't switch ON w/out SIM after re-flush - it may pickup connection description from air but real connection should come from SIM card).

Can anyone tell me which connection specific smtp server to use with a three.co.uk apn? I had been trying to use smtp.mac.com which wouldn't connect and I have tried smtp.three.co.uk and smtp-mbb.three.co.uk without success.

Edit: I gave up trying to figure out the 3 SMTP server details when I realised that I could get at the MobileMe (.Mac) SMTP server with TLS on port 587. Works fine now.

Mine still doesn`t work properly....When I connect to the internet through 3 sometimes it connects fine, sometimes the internet just stops!.On 3G is fine for 5-6 seconds and then it goes to 3.5G and the internet just hangs.If I manually switch from dual to 3g it restores the connection for only 5-6 seconds and then no internet again because it switches automatically to 3.5G....does anybody have a clue why it`s doing this?The sim is fine in my 5800, I can surf for hours.

By the way, when I put the 3 sim in for the first time I didn`t get any sms settings like we always get when we put a new sim in a phone.Is that how it worked for everybody?Did you made any other changes to make 3 work?

Oh, I have absolutely opposite situation. When it is 3.5G - works very good, when 3G - doesn't work. But switches between 3.5G and 3G randomly with time. How to set only one of this connections and block possibility of other?

That`s the problem, you cannot switch manually from 3.5g to 3g or backwards.....the antennas in your neiborhood do this automatically, so we are stuck ....

I have experienced stable connection problems with the 3 sim in Swindon and quite frankly poor indoor reception alongside my Vodfone sim which is much stronger. 3 updated the network on 22/1 but its made little difference. I also compared my Vodafone sim and Voda is much quicker online (3g) and more reliable around here. I was hoping to go back to 3 but its likely I will remain with Voda now.

Update....with the new firmware (pre-PR1.2) 3 is finally working great in my house (East London)!Superfast reception....I`m a happy camper!

Now, if I could only make FMMS to work then I`ll be complete.Anybody with 3 mobile and FMMS?What settings have you used?
