Bluetooth Headsets that Sound Good??

Hi,
I have 3 BT Earpieces that all sound choppy whether WiFi is enabled or not. They all do different versions of the BT protocol but they are the same manufacturer.

Jawbone
Jawbone 2
Jawbone Prime

The receiving end is especially bad.

How about we do a thread to list Headsets that work well. I really have to have BT work well.

If I can't get my Jawbone to work where it is usable, I would like to use a BlueAnt Q1.

Has anybody successfully used the BlueAnt Q1?

What headsts are working really well with the N900 ?
Let's list them here.

Hey there!

I am currently using a Plantronics discovery 975. It works pretty well. It comes with a portable case charger which is really handy!

I had the blueant v1 which was a pretty nice bt headeset range was ok and it was clear ane loud on both ends. But im using the jarba stone now which is a great bt headset! Love the design and the charging stone that comes with it really comes in handy when you need to charge on the go.

Does the Blueant work WELL with the N900?

I'm only interested in tested devices that function VERY WELL with the N900.

My Jawbones work great with everything but the N900. I have a bug open on this but it has not been addressed and I'm worried it won't be.

I have a Jawbone 2 also and it works ok. I am not having any issues with it. Have you tried any other bluetooth?

Also, do you have 2 cell phones with bluetooth on but was paired with the same jawbone? That might cause the problem...

I find that ths particular bluetooth headset is big and a bit uncomfy, especially for those who has glasses. but as for sound quality, its #1

No, only one phone paired. The Jawbones are just real choppy with a lot of artifact. I don't have any other BT headsets. But if I have to get another I would like to try the BlueAnt. If that doesn't work well, who knows, Plantronics I guess.

My idea with this post is to get a list of headsets that perform well.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets that Sound Good??

I have bought more bluetooth headsets than I care to admit.

Everyone I have ever purchased always had me going back to my 3 year old Plantronics 590As!

Until the past week! I purchased a set of the Nokia BH-905s for ~$200 and they sound great! They are a little big but since they come with noise canceling, I can overlook that!

Any how, they are the best value bluetooth headsets I have tried! I also tried the Sennheiser MM 450s, but they weren't any better than the Nokia BH 905s which were 40% of the price of the Sennheisers!

Best Regards,

Shane

Thanx, I heard they are nice but I also heard that until the FW update they had serious performance issues as well.

For my purposes, I'm just looking for a MONO headset for phone calls.

I have a Jabra BT-530 and it seems to work perfectly. Nice clear sound.

I am not sure what kind of "performance" problems you are referring to! If you mean the problem with if WIFI is on, the new firmware update improved the bluetooth experience quite a bit but it still has "hiccups".

Otherwise, the Nokia BH-905s + Nokia N900 works great together (I use them 10+ hours a day as I am on the phone constantly / listening to my 35+GB of MP3s)!

Best Regards,

Shane

I've got a pair Nokia BH-504 earphones. They work really well and sound nice. I'm not that picky when it comes to sound quality though so what sounds good to me might not be good to you.

I have a Nokia BH-214 which works and sounds great! The buttons also control the media player perfectly which is a bonus.

The BH-214 also allows you to use any headphones you want with them which I liked, although the stock Nokia ones are fine.

Also the latest firmware seems to fixed some minor stuttering issues I noticed previously everything now plays smoothly.

I second this. The BH-214 works great.

A couple of added bonuses:

1. You can swap in your own headphones if you don't like the stock buds
2. You can use it as a remote control for the media player in conjunction with the FM transmitter. Very handy for skipping to the next track in the car without having to fumble with the N900 touchscreen.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets that Sound Good??

The Nokia BH-501 are good.
I use them when cycling, as the behind-neck arm does not obstruct the helmet, and it does not block external noise like the stock earphones.
(Or at least they should be blocking the ear canal, to get decent bass.)

Volume buttons work. Now I just need a way to pause the music from the headset. They are cheap on ebay (here at least), as Nokia flooded the market bundling them with phones some time back.

I like my 590A'a comfortable, and sound good, just the size and that blue ring flash I would never wear them in public :D

I use my Motorola S9-HD for athletic stuff and being out, if I know I am not going to be moving about I will use the corded earbuds (logitech ultimate ears triple.fi 10 pro)

Im interested in trying the Jabra unit that uses the dogtag receiver and then plugging in my ultimate ears earbuds and seeing how well that works.

Re: Bluetooth Earpieces that Sound Good??

Anybody using earpieces, as in MONO sets.

That was my original intention with starting the thread.

I'm looking for a Jawbone replacement if they don't ever fix the BT stuff.

I would love someone to pipe in with BlueAnt Q1 experience.

I would Doubly Love Nokia to make the BT work CLEAN with all the BT earpieces out there.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets that Sound Good??

Ok, so I had to give up on Jawbones.

I bought a Blueant Q1. This earpiece works pretty good. It still is choppy with WiFi on, but is good with WiFi off.

It retails for $129, kinda preicey.

I bought it off Ebay for $45. There's lots of them there reasonable as Brown Box offerings.

Combine it with AverySound.com custom molded earpiece and the Combo is a winner.

Just wish I didn't have to keep Wifi off to use it! Bummer! Doesn't look like Nokia is going to be able to fix that issue.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets that Sound Good??

Has anyone had any luck with volume controls on stereo bluetooth headsets? I have a Jabra BT3030 and a Nokia BH-214, both allow plugin of separate headphones via the 3.5mm output. I use Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Pro which is great, but I can't get any response to the volume controls on the "remotes". Skipping tracks and pausing is fine though.
