turn off screen rotation for phone
 

I have been caught enough times now for this to be a pain in the a##e.

Can we turn off the screen rotation to make the phone stick in either landscape or portrait. every time i pick up the phone off my desk to answer the screen skips around and i hit reject or nothing by mistake.

It would need to be a simple solution as i am a bit of a slow learner with this things

yes, this JUST happened to me AAAAAAAARRRGGHH

used to happen wit my n97 all the time too :(


EDIT: best way is to turn to always on portrait...

Go to Phone app, select application menu "Phone" select "Turning Control", tap "Display Orientation" to select "Portrait", tap-off "Launch by turning", tap "Save"... and your done :)

here is the solution:

-open phone app and click the top tab in the biddle
-click rotation setting
-click the first option and set it how you like it

u should be able to set it to landscape too....

odd thing is this setting isnt accessible thru settings > phone ?????

no, they are on the phone app itself

thats what i mean, its not with all the other setttings in the settings menu :D

that setting is obviously easy to miss....... hidden in the phone app.. :D

@f2thak, I agree that the access to the phone app settings are a bit confusing, but when you actually think about it, this is how it should be implemented. As you said "phone app.." so all application specific settings should go into their respective app and not into system wide settings or "control panel", imagine having all the settings for all the integrated apps in one control panel... yes imagine Vista or Windows 7.. it's a bit of a nightmare ;)

And yet, there is a phone settings button in the system wide settings "control panel" on the n900.

@j,s, yes but if you have been using "Smartphones" specially Symbian based devices, you would notice that these settings are Phone related and affects system wide. For example 2G-3G selection, which also affects data bearers.

because phone app is phone app. phone settings are more like network settings.

just like you wont find web browsers settings behind connection settings.

only the name in settings is a bit misleading and imo that should be changed
