DTMF tones
Have looked at the suggested threads and cannot see an answer.
Have DTMF tones been switched off with the latest Firmware? On a regular call, to access voice mail, am required to push some buttons - and no tones so no access. Has anyone else had this problem? Ben |
Re: DTMF tones
DTMF tones work fine on the new firmware.
AFAIK, the DTMF tones issue which has been resolved in the current firmware is for Skype calls, where skype calls now allows for DTMF tones to be sent. |

Re: DTMF tones
Could I have switched them off accidentally? I can't seem to find a setting for them...

Re: DTMF tones
There is no setting i could find for that...
What exactly are you trying to do? |
Re: DTMF tones
Basically, I don't hear key tones. When I call home, I need to enter a pin to access my domestic line's voicemail. I swear I've done it on this phone, but now there are no tones when I press a key.
Sorry if I am being extremely dense. Ben |
Re: DTMF tones
No you are not being dense :)
I dont remember hearing any beeps while entering PIN to conference calls so, but it does work, so i think it should be working for you as well. Even though you cant hear a tone when you enter the PIN are you able to access your voicemail? |
Re: DTMF tones
I think I was having the same problem, but it may have been resolved by changing the profile setting for key sounds.

Re: DTMF tones
I was trying to buzz someone into my building today using DTMF, and it didn't work. After I set the key sounds to Level 2 (I must have previously disabled them without thinking), the tones now seem to work as expected. I am also hearing a tone sound when the key is pressed.
In the past, my other phones did have a selection for short (45ms) or long (70ms) tone duration; short tones would allow quicker navigation of voicemail system menus, etc, while long tones were sometimes necessary for certain systems that could not detect the short tones. I don't see this option available, and assume that the long tones must be in use on the N900. |
Re: DTMF tones
I had a quick question. Can you also use * and # in call as dtmf tones? The conference bridges I use require you to terminate your pin code and your name for the bridge with # and I had seen earlier posts / reviews that this was not possible
|
Re: DTMF tones
I was able to hear distinct tones for * and # when I tested.
I do still find it frustrating that key click sounds are tied to DTMF tones in the profile settings. Key clicks do not work half of the time, and are a particular nuisance when using a bluetooth headset, but I can't shut them off since I need the tones. |
