TV-OUT problem with 51-1
2 Attachment(s)
Please, follow this link, and check the tv-out connection with your device.
I checked 3 different tvs with 3 different n900s, with the same result. The output is compressed vertically, and does not fill the whole screen. Do you have this issue? |
Re: TV-OUT problem with 51-1
Given that the 900 is pushing out an 800 x 480 image over a 640 x 480 connection, I'd say that it is normal...especially since you're connecting it to a 16x9 monitor that's set to "auto stretch/auto fill"

I dont have any monitor, it is a lcd tv. How does yours look like? is it compressed vertically too? (rectangles look like ellipses) |
Re: TV-OUT problem with 51-1
Maybe the N900 vide out settings are set to 4:3? At least that's a possibility on the N95...

My car's in-dash NAV has 'TV-In' connection, with "Normal" and "Wide" modes. The resolution is 800x480, but the two different modes makes the image look different, even though its a 1:1 pixel match with the 900's resolution. It would be a different story if you were connecting to your "LCD TV" with component or HDMI connections, as they can handle the "above SD" resolutions. FWIW, monitor = display given that its recreating the 900's image via composite cable. |

Here is what it "should" look like on a 16:9 TV:

Re: TV-OUT problem with 51-1
If you install xvattr on the N900 you can play with some TV-out settings (scaling, 16:9 vs. 4:3).

Did anybody send you the link to download it? Cheers, |
Re: TV-OUT problem with 51-1
For anyone wondering, you can obtain xvattr functionality by installing easy debian chroot, and from inside that environment run apt-get install xvattr
I use the following to play 4:3 ratio videos on my widescreen correctly (black bars on left and right) with mplayer: Code:
xvattr -a XV_OMAP_TVOUT_WIDESCREEN -v 1 If someone could compile and package xvattr for native maemo, that would be even better. |
