Why we need a Sega Genesis emu on the N900...!
The N900 is capable of basically anything and it basically has all the software one could need or want, for the most part, but still there isn't any emulator for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, eventhough it's possible.
You want a reason why we need one? Here you have it: Addams Family Aerobiz Alien Alien Storm Animaniacs Another World Arcade Classics Art of Fighting Ballz 3D Batman Batman Forever Batman Returns Batman: Return of the Joker Beyond Oasis Bio-Hazard Battle Battle Frenzy Bonkers Bubba 'n' Stix Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble Captain America and the Avengers Captain Planet and the Planeteers Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse Chakan: The Forever Man Chaos Engine Cliffhanger Columns Comix Zone Contra: Hard Corps Corporation Dark Castle Darwin 4081 Demolition Man Dick Tracy Disney's Aladdin Disney's The Jungle Book Double Dragon Double Dragon II: The Revenge Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes Devil's Crush Dragon's Revenge Duke Nukem 3D Dune II Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun Dynamite Duke Earthworm Jim Earthworm Jim 2 Ecco Jr. Ecco the Dolphin Ecco: The Tides of Time Ex-Mutants Exile Exosquad F1 Grand Prix F-22 Interceptor Fatal Fury: King of Fighters Fatal Fury 2 Forgotten Worlds The Flintstones Flashback Galaxy Force Gargoyles Gauntlet Gemfire General Chaos Ghostbusters Ghouls 'n Ghosts Global Gladiators Golden Axe Golden Axe II Golden Axe III Hellfire Home Alone Immortal Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Incredible Hulk Ishido: The Way of Stones Jeopardy! Yes, that's precisely why we need a Sega Genesis emulator on the N900! :) I picked the best games out there for this system. Genesis was special. It should live on. I'm glad i could grow up with it, blowing cartridges and all... |

Being able to play Streets of Rage would be awesome, though. |
Re: Why we need a Sega Genesis emu on the N900...!
This has been discussed in other threads. Just blurting out that you want a Genesis emulator won't make anyone capable of making/porting one think "Oh he's right! I should get right on it!". If you want one badly start investigating if there are any for Linux and if they are open source. If you find any check if they easily can be compiled to run on the N900. Then post results here. :)

Re: Why we need a Sega Genesis emu on the N900...!
I had wondered why there wasn't a Genesis (or Megadrive as us tea-drinkers know it) emulator floating around - it too was my console of choice in my youth and it was conspicuous in its absence. (Didn't see much specific in the Emulators thread, but I didn't read it all.)
Just out of interest, you can get a fair chunk of the games you've highlighted in bold in the Sega Classics Collection for the PSP, if you want to play them on the move :) |

Putting the OP up for most Pointless Post of the Week Award - or PPOWA. Saying "I want" and listing a bunch of games - ahh pointless.

Why not port PicoDrive...? should be the easiest way :)

http://www.squish.net/generator/description.html Opensource Sega Genesis emulator. Not sure how well it works though. or if it will even work.
Also another list. http://www.zophar.net/linux/genesis.html It would need someone who has the ability to port programs to Maemo to be intrested though. |
