Any better music player for N900?
Couldn't find a specific thread about this for the N900...
I was wondering if there are any good mp3 player for the N900 besides the built-in media player? (or can the original media player be modified with a different equalizer setting?) I know about Mediabox and Canola but I want something lighter, simpler and with a proper equalizer. (Something similar to the old Winamp) Let me know if I missed some awesome app. :p |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
xmms ^^
but this isn't in the maemo-reps yet. i think there's a deb-package which can be installed via dpkg o.O |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
ohh. that's pretty much what I'm looking for.
Has anyone tried it on the N900? EDIT: Found this thread about it. But still not much outcome. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...030#post473030 EDIT2: Ruskie has it in his repo. http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Ruskie |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add
Code:
deb https://repo.codemages.net opt/ Code:
apt-get update Code:
apt-get install xmms2 |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
hm... it's nice to know that the basics are working but it's missing a proper GUI..
you can make some icons with shortcuts for controlling xmms2 and displaying the current song details as well... but i will stuck to the default player since anyone develops a nice GUI for this app :) |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
I completely feel you on that, you probably mean some thing like this http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/youamp/ which is available for maemo4 (N810/N800) I hope its ported to N900 soon.

Re: Any better music player for N900?
Is anyone working on a new music player for N900 currently?
or is anyone thinking of porting Youamp? btw, I tried ukmp and it shuts down before it shows the thumbnails. Seems it's a bit buggy? |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
mediabox is out but I wouldn't recommend it yet
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/mediabox/ looks promissing though! |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
I just have to chime in and say the standard Media Player sucks if you have more than 3 songs..its impossible to find the artist or song I want quickly.

kmplayer?..

Re: Any better music player for N900?
I would like one that has all the basic functionality of a basic "music" player including an equalizer.
The default media player in N900 is fine except it doesn't have an equalizer. I also prefer to manage my music by just folders / filenames whenever possible. |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
the biggest problem of the internal media player is its horrible performance...sometimes its so incredible slow...a smart and simple, but fast music player would absolutely awesome
|
Re: Any better music player for N900?
It would be nice to have functionality to restrict the music/media files search paths. For example, the builtin media player adds everything from the whole device (internal and external flash). I have some ScummVM games with soundtracks and those files would be nice to restrict from appearing in media library.
Ok, I found this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39554 :) |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
I am with jakiman the standard player needs some kind of EQ (atleast bass boost) it sounds great to me when using my Ultimate Ears earbuds because they seal tight and isolate all noise but when I tried to use my S9-HD the other day the bass was totally absent when on my sony phone I usually turn off the SRS on the S9's because there is too much bass.
Sounded like crud :( |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
old thread, really ?
symfonie has equalizer, check it out. |
Re: Any better music player for N900?
yep, symfonie's equalizer works well, but it's heavy on the CPU. I have a review of the application here. http://www.maemo-reviews.com/2010/06...equalizer.html

Re: Any better music player for N900?
I now use MediaBox as it has a MAFW backend which supports volume control while phone is locked. (Very handy)
Also has very intuitive playlist management and direct folder access. Doesn't use as much CPU as Symfonie either. |
