Facebook Chat in Conversations?

Is there anybody working on this.... is it even possible?

Please add a question mark to your title if you're going to ask about the existence of an app instead of telling us you've just created it.

I'd like the facebook integration in the conversation too! I remember someone was working on it

In Easy debian the facebook plugin for pidgin works, but no sign of it for the maemo version of pdgin either?

I think it would be a good idea but id hate for my contacts list to have another 500 people added to it.. maybe a seperate app.

Somebody posted that they had this working in RTCOMM, but I can't seem to find the post.

I for one really want this working. You should be able to use the pidgin facebook chat pluging in the same way you can with empathy

It seems doable:

But I am not going to do it.

Good point. But I really really love the way the Conversations thing works. That is one of my favourite parts of the device. Maybe there should be an option to select which Facebook friends you want to add.

Totally agree. I'd love for a way to filter contacts or group them or something. Even just with my AIM/gtalk/yahoo contacts loaded in, it starts to get a little long.

Facebook chat is working perfectly via jabber, like msn messenger too. It requires you to make account to free jabber server that has msn and facebook gateway/plugin installed and thats it :)

Could you give any advice on how to do this? Where to register? What server supports facebook chat?

You can group them by different accounts: in contacts list, open menu and tap "Groups" and select desired group. Not so hard :)

First check this list, altought i cannot find facebook chat compatibility, but some of them supports it still: http://www.jabberes.org/servers/serv...teway_icq.html

After you found one, install pc client first (pandion or PSI) and make account to that server from pandion/psi client (usually that way).

After account is created, log in and check what transport it will support. Choose MSN gateway and insert your msn account login and password.

Now you will get your msn contacts added to your jabber account.

After that choose facebook transport (or gateway) if its supported by jabberserver you have chosen. Same thing with login information. After that you can see your FB chat ppl in your jabber client (pandion or psi).

Now you can close jabber client (yes, pandion or psi :D) and log in with n900 to that jabberserver and you will get those contacts to your addressbook and when ever your jabber account is online, your msn ja fb chat will be too.

Little bit hard to say how this will work, but i hope you get the clue. Also you can put your own Jabberserver online and use that (like i did).

It will take some time to understand how this works and how to do. Learning curve isn't that hard, but requires some time.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any other information :)
