Applications not appearing in phone!
Maybe I'm just a complete ***** or something, but I've recently downloaded some stuff from applications and they are not appearing on my phone, (no icon), I try and look for them in my File Manager and it's freezing.
Any advice anybody? I appreciate your help community:) |

Some of them, for example Mplayer, have no gui and require extra apps to use their functionality. |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Well from OVI, Rubix Cube, Mirror Ball, Candle, angry birds, but just from the Application Download, I tried downloading Flashlight and Mplayer movie Player, so maybe that's what it is, but I'd assume flashlight to work, or even touchsearch hasn't appeared
|
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
hmmmm, have you added any menu changers like mymenu or catorise? as they change what goes in what menu?
Rubix/mirror ball etc should all appear happily in the menu - note they do normally have a blue icon for a while. either waiting or rebooting fixes it. Have you tried a reboot, just to check that first? |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Restart your phone and if they do not appear try to install for example angry bird again.

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
also touchsearch is a desktop widget, so will not appear in the menu (i think! - not used it) - when you edit your desktop, click to add a widget and it should be in that menu.

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
All those I have, it's now just Mplayer, flashlight, and touchsearch, which I've recently tried to download from from applications, maybe I have to do it from OVI instead now?
A reboot means just to take out the battery? |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
ok well, Mplayer - you need KMPlayer to play files - mplayer is a hidden back end application.
Flashlight i'm not sure but will check. Will also check touchsearch, but pretty sure it is a widget. |

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
OK Well
Mplayer - sorted (As you wont see it) Flashlight - when you install the details field says "The applet is only visible if the lens cover is open" Edit - It should ask you to use it when you open the camera lens, or give you the choice - check this thread out http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...shlight&page=6 Touchsearch - lol i can't find it either, working on it! Edit - Touchsearch - just rebooting to test :) |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Touchsearch is a desktop widget, it won't appear in the more apps section.

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Oh okay, so Mplayer I see where you use it now in KMPlayer...lol...I know I know...I did add the widget for touchsearch, that just appeared but it doesn't show up in the "Add Widget" list. I guess I'm just not familiar with how most of the things on the phone will work with other applications. Sorry guys, and thanks for the help...You know what, I see a difference in my phone now since the reboot, I guess I've had it on for such a long time, that it acts like a real computer, need to turn it off from time to time to update everything properly. I never realized I've never turned it off...lol
Still don't see flashlight...lol oh well |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
ok, touch search automatically appears after a reboot :)
|
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
i'm trying to figure out the flashlight now :) - hehehe, lol - would be good if these things where sanity tested before release :)
|
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
aghhhh, really can't get it to work :(

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
flashlight only shows in the quick drop down setting menu when lens cover is open. but have noticed if you have added things to this like reboot and other options sometimes the option does not show as it has no room to show.

flashlight is just an additional button in the status-bar pop-up. ^^ |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Found it!!!!
Open the camera lens (Load camera up) - press the screen in the middle to bring up the status bar - Press the menu button to get back to your desktop then press the status bar! (Batter 3g status area thingy!) - the icon appears in there! |

Hehehe :) (p.s. - each thread has a thank you button next to it :) - if you want to pay thanks to people you can use that!) movies etc, yup thats right there are lots and lots of threads on here about getting videos to your phone. If you are in the UK, you can also download from the BBC iplayer, i have it working fine :) got 3 dvd's on it too, great for train rides. Mplayer with kmplayer works fine, but for me, the standard player is good enough. |

Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
I guess the best would be to use something for Ninja Video, that would be cool as well...are you saying that you can try and surf the web using Mplayer???

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39034 Just download them directly to N900 and use default media player. They should work. |

You can activate mplayer either with a GUI (Graphical interface) like kmplayer, or via terminal, but not via MicroB |
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
Thanks guys, I tried Iron Man 2 tralier but seems like the audio is off...
|
Re: Applications not appearing in phone!
but you can play (for example) youtube videos with kmplayer too.
you just have to change the part /watch?v= to /v/ : youtube.com/watch?v=number -> youtube.com/v/number with kmplayer you have the choice between the default player, mplayer and npp... BUT the buffering and overall-performance is just bad. watch your flash-content with microb - as far as it is supported yet. ^^ |
