QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Have you guys seen this?
This device look just like N900 but instead of saying N900 it say N00*. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kkS2...eature=related It run very smooth on vertical and horizontal and have fluid menu too. This would be greatly godsend if it actually for N900 and coming to N900. |
Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Threaded picture gallery would also be nice

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
I may be mistaken but im sure some of the pre-release versions sent to the reviewers were badged as n00

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
This is nice, why not Nokia use this instead of their crappy interface? Not to mention they don't even put on screen zoom button in the gallery section.

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Hmm maybe because QT 4.6 came just out and is still under heavy testing :| Its status is still beta.

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5

Maemo 6... maybe

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Maemo 6? As from what is posted by Nokia, Qt4.6 is going to be integrated into all of their phones, Maemo's and Symbians. The teaser 'commercials' shows Qt4.6 on N900, N95, and many other nokia phones...What they want to do is put Qt4.6 on all of their phones so that developers only have to develop apps once (using Qt) and the apps can be installed on all their Qt phones....or something like that.
http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.6/qt4-6-intro.html I've installed HyperUI, looks cool but no applicable use for it atm lol |
Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
N00 is (or was) the N900 prototype before the 9 was put in front..

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Woah this looks awesome. My friend has a N97 and he despises it so this is good news for him haha.
So what is it exactly? A GUI overhaul? Will I still be able to run all my regular Maemo 5 apps after installing this? And if so, will they run slower/faster? ________ HONDA CBR400RR HISTORY |
Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
It's a different set of controls and widgets and application framework for developers to write with. Installing Qt4.6 will not make any changes to existing software unless they are modified to use it.

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
Qt is an application development framework. It's something applications use. To avoid confusion, this will only affect applications that are Qt based, and even there, only those that were explicitly written to take advantage of this tech. Just having a library in there won't automatically make everything pretty. As the N900 ships with no Qt based GUI applications, this means very little change in the 'default' applications, more the ability to backport stuff from Maemo 6 or the desktop, or simplify writing apps that run on both Maemo 5 and 6.

Re: QT4.6 on Maemo 5
That's some great news. All of this makes me wish I started to learn programming/coding already :( My new N900 is certainly bringing me on the right track though :D
