Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
Haha this made me laugh...I didn't know same-sex marriages existed in Kansas...
"Greenbaum met his husband at an Apple fan group in the mid-90s. When they started dating, the couple hung out in Mac computer labs together as a form of courtship." Haha oh lord. Too many easy jokes, I'll let this one go... |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
"..Before Apple, "there was this corporate mindset of 'We're all going to have boring computers with the black background and the green lettering,' " he said. "And Apple said, 'We're going to do things different ... and make computers accessible to everyone.' ".."
How is this different? Oh wait "Think Different" of course! I'm a "linux fanboi" myself but holy crap! |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
"...The Long Island, New York, consultant said he's not rich. He has to forgo other luxuries to be able to buy all of Apple's devices...."
Yeah like psychiatric tests! I'n not sure about "Cult of Apple" -I think that "L" is a spelling mistake! |

Wow. I'll never call somebody a fanboy again unless they measure up to this dude.

Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
To be fair Apple do make sexy hardware and clever software but the paranoid control they try to enforce on people is absolutely crazy.
That's one of the reasons I did not buy an iPhone months ago - the other reason is the dated os currently available. Then again it's all about the applications & marketing - Apple seem to be good at stuff like that. To have a demograph that are willing to blindly buy your products is something else - well done Apple! |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
I am just disturbed. Not surprised. Just disturbed. This guy probably VOTES...think about that....

Proving once again you will never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator.
*****s - can't live with them, can't herd them off cliffs. |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
I have been saying this for many years:
Anything Apple = Shite |
Cringe!!
I love Apple computers and will always have them at the top of my buying list. But I use a Cowon music player, an N900 (and an HTC G1)@ before that. I also run Kubuntu on an MSI netbook.
This article is clearly trying to make it seem like all Apple users are insane. Not true. |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
There's a lot to be said about the religious-like fervor that *all* tech and media communities seem to have. While this one is no less extreme than some others I've heard, its very interesting to see the stone being thrown in this glass house.

Oh stop it. You'll anger the Great Apple that is all-knowing and all providing. You should welcome out new apple overlords, not berate them.
Seriously, last time anyone poked fun at a cult with this many followers we crusaded their behind into oblivion. Poke fun at your own risk. One of these days, they are gonna be waiting with their apple-shaped swords with their white plastic handles and their white shields with light-up logos. The great Apple Marmalade of 2010 is upon us! (I guess if crosses begot crusades, then apples beget marmalades?) |

Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
I don't really understand what you find so unusual about this article. I know such a person. Exactly the same. Gay, subscribed to Apple and preaches his religion wherever he goes. And, as this sad person in the article, he really, honestly believes that Apple is "the underdog company" and it's all about "thinking different" and being creative and whatnot. Hell, he's even invested most of his money in Apple shares and refuses to sell them even though he's broke and unemployed now.
This is what I have in mind when I think of Apple. For me, this is the average Apple customer. (I'll never understand their thinking of Apple as the company that "thinks different" and is the nice, customer-friendly underdog in a market full of greedy sharks. It's a fundamental part of the Apple experience, and it's the one thing I cannot understand.) |
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
I would gladly take money from that kind of person. Shareholders are happy and users are happy? No harm done?
|
Re: The pinnacle of Apple fanboyism - read for epic lulz!
They're just another company trying to make a buck. The end.

The first group are the ones most likely to start a thread titled "What phone should I get?" or "What's better, LCD TV's or Plasma?". The other group are the ones who look at the specs first and imagine possibilities. They are more likely to start threads like "If Phone X can do Y, can I make it do Z?" or "All I see are LCD and Plasma large screen TV's... since a plain old CRT gives me the best picture (by a huge margin), who makes large display, rear projection CRTs?" Unfortunately this second group is always the smaller of the two and that's why the money rides on the first group. What Apple, and more specifically Steve Jobs has done is accurately predict future wants and needs by providing a product people want and through its use, soon develop a need. In doing so they have become this first groups technology proxy... This isn't new. The vast majority has apparently always been overwhelmed by new technology. The proxy could have been anyone. It's Apple now but in the past it has been Alex Bell, then Henry Ford, then General Electric, then DuPont, then MicroSoft... and so on. Fortunately things change... ...and the catalyst for these changes can always be found in the second group. :) |
