Extended Call Log - extras-devel
self explanatory, just checked it out. took a few kbs on rootfs not a biggie. phone app lacks a detailed call log especially when the same person calls. it also can arrange it in dialled, recieved, missed calls. worth loading

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
hi
what does this program change exactly?
I just used the hack here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=42624 which modifies the database, and I would like to try it out a few days before rolling back the changes ;) thx hcm |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
wow this was great.
killer app! the only thing missing is duration. but maybe in future release? |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
I'm the developer of extended call log. Basically it's just a different front end for the rtcomm-eventlogger-ui library which is used for most of the maemo logs. I just display all calls instead of the grouped list in the phone log.
In this version, I only display the last 30 calls. This is configurable via gconf and I'll add a UI setting for it in the next version. Also, to view extra details of a call (contact number, account) you have to double click on the call. I've to do some work to figure out how to make it work on single click. For people that asked about call times. As this isn't available by default in the database I can't display it. Enough votes for this bug might make it possible after the next update. It should be optified to take no space from rootfs, but I'll take a look to make sure I'm doing the optification properly. |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
I've released v0.2 of extended call log today and pushed it to extras-testing
The changes in v0.2 are * Added a UI to set the number of calls to display * Fixed an issue with the icons For the number of calls I recommend to keep this kind of reasonably low unless you specifically need to look at older calls. If this is a high number it can introduce a delay when loading the calls |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
okay, so how does this work? i installed it then went to my contacts communication history and all i see is my out-going calls and out-going text. And that has always been there. No incoming calls or incoming texts shown.
So i went and made few calls from my phone and called my self from my house phone, hoping that it will show up multiple time instead of showing only the last call. Am i doing something wrong here? is there something i need to configure inorder to see this. please help me out with this. zhow do i see multiple calls on my phone instead of the "last" made or recieved. Thanks |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Did u click on the default call log icon or the extended call log icon which should bee there after the installation?

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
I agree, the communication history only shows limited info after inastalling extended call. I am uninstalling mine.

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Is it possible to integrate received/sent sms in this? I really miss the N95's call log :X
|
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
so can anyone show me how this works? im still waiting for someone to tell me step by step where to go and see extended call logs....
|
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
any screen captures ?
|
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
okay, since no one was willing to take some time and show people who are getting confused how to check extended call log. I decided to keep looking untill i found it.
For people who are getting confused: Install the application then all you do is go to your "MORE" folder where all your applications are, for example: wormux, coin toss, bounce, e.t.c. Or what you can do is, go to one of your desktops and add it as a shotcut. And thats what i did, its much faster and easier to acess. preas thanks if i helped |

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
This looks a nice app. I wonder if you can hook it in with CallBlocker? Someone in the thread for that app suggested that a number could be added to CallBlocker by choosing something from the context menu while viewing the call log. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=46333#31

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
hi guys,
does extended call log solve my problem which is: with my old E90 i used to set the call logs to be saved for 30days which i basicly use in my work as sometimes i got calls from customers not registered and i forgot to register their numbers and i need to go back to the log and check by date of call to try remember the number. with the N900 the log is too small and i need to extend the number of calls to be saved and displayed. please help and if the extended call logs can solve my problem i apprecaite if you can post a link to download the application. regards |

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
I want an integrated extended call log with the default call log

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Very useful app, but I have one problem - it takes like 20 sec. for it to open and become operative. It loads fast, but then first 20 sec it is not responding to commands. I have tried it with different number of entries to be shown - same result. Anybody with similar behavior?

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
That made my phone useless. I could't call or receive calls when ecl was installed. And yes I did reboot my phone. =)
Think I will test newer release someday. |

If you have tried a small number and are still getting the error I'm not sure what might be causing it, maybe something to do with your database? Do you see any delay when loading the standard phone log? |

Does it happen only when you have it running or anytime you have it installed? And what have you set as the limit? |

I furst started with 1000(30days X 30 calls=900) which s one month back. Then after experiencing these lags, I reduced to 800, then 500, then 300...still lagging :-) Now with 50 I am OK, will increase only when need arises. Thank you for your time and effort to create and maintain this app! |

Problem updating
First let me say I love this app. Really helpul. Now my little dilemma. I am trying to update the app and it tells me there is an update availabel, but it is missing dependencies. Application packages missing are:
librtcom-eventlogger-ui1 (>=1.4-2+0m5) librtcom-eventlogger-1 (>=1.3-4+0m5) Any idea how I get these? Any help is appreciated. Thanks |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Bump and echo the above post by slotti..
My librtcom's are of the 0 variety, not 1 (ie, librtcom-eventlogger0, librtcom-eventlogger-ui0). Are you working off of a test/internal build of PR1.2 which the "lower classes" ;) such as ourselves don't yet have access to, or is something else going on? EDIT: forgot to thank you for your very useful app and your time and dedication to both Maemo and the community/this thread. So, thanks! :D |

Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
With this app, can I see the number the person called from ? Currently, if I have multiple numbers saved for a contact and the person calls, all I get is a name in the call log without the actual number, which makes is impossible to know whether the person called from home or cell.

Shame that the same happens in Conversations.. There's a bunch of people in my Contacts for whom I have several numbers. Sometimes, one has been dropped and I'll only know about it long after. With Conversations, as long as you reply on the same "thread" you'll know the message was sent to that number, but if I want to call them, for example, I'm stuck trying to trip the name-resolution code and hope I get that one time where it resolves the name for the number slow enough that I can read at least a part of it and know which number to call. The reason why Extended Call Log is so useful is that, well, it "extends" the firmware's built-in call log.. So if I'm looking up a call from someone who's no longer on the Phone app log, it'd be really helpful if we could visualize the number too. |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Is it possible for to make extended call logg to display call time for each call?

Got too obsessed about the way Conversations works that I didn't remember about it -- had been using it for a while now, though, so yeah, I'm dense. One thing, though, and I don't know if the poster you replied to was referring to this (as opposed to the time and date when a call was placed): is it possible to know the call's duration? I mean, for received and (especially) outgoing calls, of course. Don't know if the system stores this info too.. |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
i m trying to install it but getting the application packages missing .. how come? it iz there in application manager .. and extras-devel nd extras repository are enabled.
|
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
You should have looked at the "Details" tab, it explains which dependencies are missing.
Since other apps have had auto-builder issues, prompting the dev to revert changes, I'm guessing some code/packages are being built with system libraries which will be made available once the next firmware update comes out (PR1.2), and until such time -- since those libraries aren't available for normal download, they come as a full "suit" (firmware upgrade) so as to ensure compatibility -- apps compiled against those are uninstalable by anyone who is still running PR1.1.1 (3.2010.02-8). Though it'd be really nice if matrim would comment on the matter. (btw, matrim, must have missed your first post -- no call duration on the database, eh? that's a real shame and a huge thing that the devs overlooked) |
Re: Extended Call Log - extras-devel
Sorry for the delay, I didn't see the updates to the thread.
I think the update \ install problem is related to the SDK \ autobuilder update to PR1.2. But TBH, I'm not sure what is causing the problem as it was working fine and then without any change by me it stopped installing for some people. I also have the same problem with another app that uses the rtcom-eventlogger librarys For not I'm putting the problem down to the update and when PR1.2 is out it should hopefully fix the problem. |
