Battery Indicator Display inaccurate?

Hi all,
somthing weird happend the other with my phone.
I woke up to my phone turned off after sticking it on the charger all night.

Since i had turned the phone on after, the battery indicator has started to display itself really inaccurately.
With that said, on a normal day atleast after sending a few text messages after 2-3 hours off the charger there would be a sign of drainage on the indicator. (as in the little battery picture would show 3/4 full)

thinking that mabe it had done some firmware update while i was asleep i kept the phone off the charger all day and used it extensively. After 10Hrs the battery still shows 3/4 full!
i downloaded the desktop command widget and have got it to show me the percentage of the battery.

both the battery display and the desktop command widget say something completely different, although the widget seems to show it more accurately.
anyone seen this before? :confused::confused:

The battery display isn't linear.

The situation isn't as extreme as on some other Nokia devices though, on N810 it would go from 4/4 battery bars to 3/4 bars when battery was at 50 percent!

I found the same problem. Seems that the desktop widget is more accurate.

Re: Battery Indicator Display inaccurate?

Is there any way to make it more accurate???

I have ~68% of battery left (according to Conky) and the battery display is showing that as nearly full (only one pixel missing)

It's like have a fuel gauge in your car that displays a full tank when you really only have half left.

The battery indicator is only a rough estimate.

To get a more accurate number, you would have to use something like Desktop Command Execution Widget, or Queen Beecon Widget.

I'm looking to see if you can replace the stock status menu applet with a third party one (you probably can, and it seems pretty simple.).

You can change the status icons to better reflect your battery level. They are found in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon, see here for more information regarding changing them. Remember to backup anything you change etc. Also they go by set amounts (13%, 25%, 38%, 50%, 63%, 75%, 88% and 100%) so it still won't be accurate.

The thing that I do not understand is why the battery indicator shows the battery ~75% full when in fact it is on 48% which should load "statusarea_battery_full50.png" image?

On PR1.2

78% = First tiny peace of battery meter missing
60% - 65% = First Quarter of Battery Meter missing
50%-55% = Half Battery meter missing
The others I'm not so sure of however.
10% = The very last peace of green battery meter showing.
0% = Red battery meter.

Hope it helps.

This is not the case with my phone.

I had the same issue even prior to PR1.3.

As you can see from the screenshot, there is certainly more than half of battery showing.

Here you go, exactly the same except mine shows IP address as well.

Rename to conky.conf

As for the inaccurate battery display, try installing pyBattery

A little off topic but never mind. I have attached the file, although I have not created this tweak (see credits embedded in file)

Change name to conky.conf and copy file to N900 home directory.

Back to the subject > Anyone has any ideas why this issue persists?
