N900 + Windows XP drivers
I've connected my phone to my PC, but when Windows XP tries to install drivers, it says there are none available. My phone is not being recognized. Does anyone know where I can get the drivers?
|
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
Which connection mode are you using?
|
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
Did you already try another USB-port? Directly connected to your Windows machine? No hubs in between?
|
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
If you're on Windows you'll need to install the Nokia PC Suite to use it in anything other than charging or usb storage mode. On my Ubuntu machines it just works though.

Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
I'm using PC suite mode.

Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
And I am directly connecting it to my computer, no hubs. I am also using the latest version of Nokia PC Suite. Windows says it needs to install a driver but it can not find that driver.

Also, does anyone know how to get AIM and MSN on the phone?

2. for the pc suite mode you may have to start the installation in nokia suite on your pc first - before you connect your phone and activate pc suite mode?! Quote:

As stated, once you "plug in", check the phone for the "mode prompt" (PC Host mode or storage mode). If using Nokia PC Suite, you'll have to choose PC mode "on the phone". |
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
That didn't work. Windows XP SP3 is still telling me that it could not find drivers to install. :( No drivers = NSU not detecting the phone. :(

This may go faster is you are more specific. As stated, try opening PC suite first. How did you install Nokia PC Suite version 7.1.40.1? Was the phone connected when you were installing? Maybe you missed an install "pop-up"? |
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
Reinstall NSU, drivers should be embedded.
Mass storage works out of the box, checked on a clean xp. |
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers
I'm trying to connect in PC Suite mode. Anyone having this problem with Win 7?

The first point is to establish if the connection issue is with your usb on WinXP to the N900. To do this you must follow the instructions and connect in Mass Storage Mode. IF this works then you can proceed to check if the PC Suite Mode works. If it doesn't then you have more complex issues that need fixing first. To use PC Suite mode you must have installed and configured PC Suite to use the USB cable. Make sure you are not using OVI Suite as this does not appear to work properly with the N900. If you are still having issues then post exactly what you are doing and the results. |

FYI - The connection problems I was experiencing before changing the USB slot went like this: In Mass Storage mode: After plugging in the phone I was getting the "Autoplay" dialogue for two seconds, then it would stop. I also got a new drive in My Computer, but clicking on it would bring up "Please inset disk". In PC Suite: It would connect and recognise the phone, but when I went to copy files to or from the phone, I got the message "The connection to the phone has been lost". |
Re: N900 + Windows XP drivers

b) Insert cable c) Insert other end of cable d) wait for woosh sound from N900 and "ka-ding" from W7 e) N900 asks you what to do, PS suite or Mass storage f) Choose mass storage g) Give W7 a few seconds to mount h) Check "My Computer" for new and exciting drives |
