Palm Pro
Palm III Handspring Visor Palm m125 - 2005 June Palm Tungsten E2 - 2006 February Some Cheap Nokia Phone - 2007 April 770 - 2007 July iPod Touch - 2008 August n810 - 2009 January Prototype n900 - 2009 October I still have the cheap nokia phone, 770, n810, and n900 As for the iPod Touch. I looked at getting an n800 right as all stock dried up. I needed something to replace my 770 and didn't want to pay a lot for an n810. Yeah, that lasted long. both for usability and because I was so embarrassed to be seen with it. Edit: Added my cell phone into the mix |
Re: Your own personal device timeline
Looking at that list, it seems that my devices have been getting physically bulkier each time (except for the 1208). |

Re: Your own personal device timeline
Handspring Visor Deluxe: November 1999
Handera 330: 2001 (?) until stolen in 2003 Palm T3: 2003 - 2004, sold and good riddance :D Zaurus SL-C860: 2004 - present. Ran out of charge the other day because i hadn't used it for a week. Nokia N900: December 2009 I sometimes miss the Handera 330. It had a huge greyscale screen, decent spreadsheet program, grafitti, CF & SD slots(?) and the batteries (rechargeable 4xAAAs, i believe) lasted for literally days of constant use. I mean, i read the entirety of Atlas Shrugged on the gadget on vacation using the same batteries, with plenty of other use during that time. The Zaurus is better than the N900 is some ways. I picked it up the other day and it felt amazingly spacious and comfortable after getting used to the N900. It has better hardware buttons and the ancient VGA LCD screen is (amazingly) just as bright and clear as the N900s, if a bit more bluish. However, i find myself trying to kinetically scroll everything and have never been able to carry it in my front pant pocket, which is where my phone goes. To be honest, i'd rather have the N900 NIT-sized. It would still be an improvement over carrying both the Zaurus and a phone around, and much more useful for me. I can fully appreciate that would put it out of the running for most people, though. :) |

Re: Your own personal device timeline
Wow -- I'm seriously out-geeked by you gadget-lovers. My story is quite different. I buy a very few things and milk them for all they're worth.
Palm m125 (still works & can briefly entertain kids on trips, although I've stopped using it as a PDA due to lack of rechargeable batteries) Nokia N810 (e-mail, maps, podcasts, music library, YouTube, games, notes to self, RSS, weather, remote desktop, basic web browsing, and just about everything else) My cell phone is a $20 flip phone with prepaid service. That's literally my whole list. |

Interesting question, let's see.
Motorola i1000plus Newton 2100 Motorola i830 Nokia 770 Nokia 6682 Nokia N800 Samsung SGH-A717 Nokia 5800 Nokia RX-51 Nokia N900 Those are all devices which have, at one time or another, occupied one or both of my primary mobile device slots (phone, mobile computer). There are a couple of others which I really only used incidentally, and that includes a Palm m105 and a Palm T|X. |
Re: Your own personal device timeline
