Can't send Imap email on n900
I have successfully being able to setup my MSN email and a POP3 email. However I cannot get to work my work's Imap account. I use the same settings that Thunderbird uses on my laptop, and that works fine (on the laptop of course). But when it comes to setting it on the n900, I can only receive, but not send email.
I have tried the default, and also these settings: secure connection set to SSL & Port 587 secure connection: Normal (TLS) & Port 25 So far no luck. It's sad that the most important email that I need won't work. At the Nokia Support Discussions site, the problem is still unresolved. Also, Thunderbird doesn't require a special certificate for this email account, so that's out of the question. Ah, and it worked fine on a Blackberry. I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you. |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
I have two wifi routers. one at home one at the office.
Home does not work, Office works. So at the moment I am assuming that the problem is router related. Assuming you are using a wifi access point whre it is not working, try to access the account with 2.5g or 3G. If it works you know its related to the router. And yes my normal desktop works fine with wifi and mail. Not much help but maybe some starting points. Regards Markus |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
Using a D-Link DSL-2740B ADLS Wireless router.
When I try to send at home (it works in the office) I get a failed message in the outbox. Is there any way to find out why sending failed? Regards Markus |

Back in the office it refreshes imediately.
At home the send and receive does not trigger anything. So it really does not seem to be phone releated but router wise. Maybe its just a defect on the router. Strange is that I can can collect IMAP Mail from my Computer using wireless and IMAP. Regards Markus |

I had this too. Did you install any extra theme?

Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
You've propably aware but just in case; is the outgoing server accepting the connection? What I mean is that some (most) outgoing email servers only accept connections from their own domains.
If it works when connecting over the phone (2G or 3G) but not over the wlan this might be the case. |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
@dirty harry
I have set up authentification for outgoing mail Acutally it should still be able to get the mails. But the strange thing is that when I click on send & receive nothing happens at all. If I do it at the office or over 2G, 3G it willl show my mail acounts refreshing. At home nothing. Its like the command never executes when clicking on send & receive. Regards Markus |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
Thanks for your input, but I have the phone connected only through WAP, tried the multiple settings and still no luck. Doesn't work at home or the office.
I use Tmobile in the US, don't know if it makes any difference. |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
I have two servers that I relay mail through. One is personal and uses self signed certificates for IMAP and SMTP. The other is for business and does not use certificates. Both are Cyrus IMAP and Sendmail servers.
The IMAP protocol has little to due with sending mail; its all about SMTP. Last week I discovered that I could not send mail through the non-certificate business server when using my N900 and a t-mobile 3G connection. I looked at the sendmail maillog and discovered that any IP address assigned on t-mobile 3G is black listed. However, relaying through the personal server with the self-signed certificates worked even with t-mobile blacklisted IP. I was able to get relaying working on the business server without self-signed certs by adding tmodns.net RELAY to the sendmail access database. This not a permanent solution. So, your issue may be related to T-mobile's IP space. |
Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
I'm having the same problem and I have tmobile 3g. would the only solution be to dump tmobile for at&t?

Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
I see a great confusion here. Or I'm just slow...
_______At home | At work Laptop____?______? N900_____?______? This is the table that covers the possibilities. Could you please replace "?" in every position with "Works" or "Broken". Is your laptop connected to the same WiFi AP? |

Re: Can't send Imap email on n900
Why would a theme affect the email client getting mail from servers ?
