How many have sold their N900?

Just wondering how many people actually sold their N900 after receiving it, using it, then deciding to get rid of it.

As an N900 owner who pre-ordered in Sept but hardly ever use it anymore (using BB for work), I am just wondering the overall statistical numbers of who has and hasn't kept their device.

No Way ! The N900 just rocks :)

Must we have yet another of these vague 'bashing/cheering' threads? There's so much to talk about that's actually new to say. :(

I agree, either folks like it for the multitude useful features or prefer iphone-clone of simple users. They are extremes and hardly find anyone in between. It all boils down to functional priorities of the device.

This neither a bashing or cheering thread, just a simple poll to indicate the numbers of keep and return.

Perhaps you should not jump to conclusions next time.

im getting a bit bored with mine..will probably trade it for a nexus one or hd2 (with winmo 7)..the small app store/ovi maps is killing me.

Wouldn't the people that sold their N900s no longer be hanging around here in general anyways?

Just because someone might have sold or traded their device doesn't mean it lessens their interest of Maemo in general - just simply means the device didn't fit their needs.

I guess I'm quite rare then because I consider myself in the middle having never used Linux before purchasing this mobile. I really like it and wish I knew more about Linux and how to use terminal. Internet is amazing on this mobile as is the media functions on the really good screen.

ps I dnt know why people complain about the screen being resistive. I have an iPod touch and prefer the screen on the n900.

I got rid of mine. I think Nokia will not upgrade the n900 to maemo 6. I really think the Maemo community is great, but Nokia are way too unreliable when it comes to device support.

That's why I said "in general".

Re: How many have sold their N900?

This is recognizably another one of those vague, bashing threads, just as was said. The results are always boring, since the overwhelming number of respondents always say that they are not selling their n900s or whatever the "solution" to the problem is, like not buying another Nokia product.

Eventually, the people who have posted over and over and over that they love their N900s will get tired of posting, and you will succeed in making it appear that there is a problem when there is actually no problem but exhaustion.

Edit: I refuse to respond to a poll in which one of the key words is "fraking", so the results are skewed by at least one :)

No, they just chill here and troll people for not buying an iPhone or Android based device. Or they grouse about how much better it was before the N900 came out and you were restricted to wifi (and a much smaller userbase.)

Then they post more threads about "I am getting rid of my N900" or "Why haven't you gotten rid of your N900" all in the pursuit of some goal that is lost on me.

geneven 2010-02-08 21:48

Re: How many have sold their N900?

I realized, by the way, that your poll succinctly shows how to write such a skewed poll.

You give a few options and force people who don't agree with you a utopian, practically impossible choice to express their disagreement.

Example: How do you feel about Obama? (This is not a political statement. Do NOT try this poll at home!)

1. Obama is the Messiah.

2. Obama has some real problems.

Obviously, the same people willing to respond with alternative 1 are the kind of people who would be willing to say that the N900 is "fraking awesome". So, if your aim is to construct a poll giving option 2 a huge advantage, you have demonstrated the algorithm.

Fairly sure, I stated in my OP that this was merely a test to get the statistical numbers.

You have three options. Either choose that you like the device, choose that it doesn't fit your needs and you got rid of it or don't choose at all.

Bringing ideological examples of your frustration into a simplified numerical poll is simply unjustified and unwarranted nor was their any mention of an "issue" or "problem" with the device in the OP. Your confused assumption/conclusion only adds to the useless, baseless, merit-less trolls roaming these forums, looking for attention wherever they may find it.

Like I said before and I'll say it again. I did this simply for the statistical numbers - I am an N900 owner, I love my device, didn't find recent polls (after people have had time to use their device and get into the intricate details of such) of the aforementioned topic.

If you'd like to be negative and bring up in-accurate ideological examples of a person's post without knowing what you're talking about please do it somewhere else.

I would love to hold a poll with the question

"How many people think the same *****s who keep starting these backhanded bashing threads need a punch directly to the genitals?"

* YES
* YES BUT HARDER
* YES WITH AN ADDED NURPLE

What's stopping you?? Making polls is what all the cool kids appear to be doing today...

I might actually vote on that one too :D.

77h is happy with his n900 & is not going to sell it.
he does not hate nokia & hopes maemo 6 will come to n900 although he does not really care too much.....

he agrees with the sentment on this forum that there are already enough questions asking the same:

would you buy again
have you sold
do you regret
do you want to kiss stephe jobs
is the ipad the better n900
is the n900 the better ipad
are you angry for not having turn by turn
will you for ever leave nokia for not having turn by turn
are you angry for not having mms
will you for ever leave nokia for not having mms?

got to love ctr C & CTR V on my n900

Voted "yes", cause technically I've sold "my" (DDP discounted) n900 to the other person.

what a strange attitude....

btw, the poll is lacking a third choice: "think it's a fun toy, bought a second one".

kjmackey 2010-02-08 22:51

Re: How many have sold their N900?

If you really wanted statistical numbers, the options should have been "Yes" and "No" (to the question "Did you sell your N900").

Introducing the qualifiers, as you have, to the simple answers invites the response "I'm not going to answer your poll as it is poorly structured" - and, as such, does little to get you the numbers you say you seek.

Re: How many have sold their N900?

I haven't returned my N900 banking on this phone to fullfil its full potential. I got my phone on a 18-Month contract with vodafone paying £40.00 a month and the device was free!
I wouldnt return it based on the priceplan alone lol.
I will admit like most that im very disappointed with the level of support from Nokia for this handset. The Maemo community ought to be commended for the desire and hard work put to making this device worth it. Nokia have almost given up on supporting this phone with innovative apps and true integration with ovi store. Imagine the N900 with over 10,000 apps and games....just the thought is mouth watering!

Lets hope for a busy summer lol :D

Yes, I have not sold my phone,
No, I don't agree that this poll has value

Vote Now! Because we all know voting on a forum gives the true story.

I enthusiastically bought it, waited for the first firmware update, tried to live with it, but the lack of provisioning, and therefore my inability to connect to my corporate email, made it a $600 paper weight. I can't return it as beyond the 14 day grace period and too lazy to put it up for sale on eBay. Back to my factory unlocked iPhone 3GS

Exactly what is the issue with you connecting to your corp email?

Re: How many have sold their N900?

Well at least, look at the mobile phones the market offers:
Someone mentioned the Google Nexus - well it has no keyboard
The HD2 has also no keyboard and is it to 100% clear that it will be upgraded to Windows Mobile 7?
Although Windows Mobile 7 will copy the iPhone behaviour, I'm sure. So no multitasking and making smartphones to musicphones which can download music from Zune Music store or something like that.

The Palm Pre is kinda wierd in my eyes - at least, I'm not able to find any other phone then the N900. Why should I sell it?

Re: How many have sold their N900?

Why would you ask that question on the Maemo forum, of all places? :) You KNOW that the folks that got rid of theirs are entirely unlikely to be coming here to answer your question.
