A little help in Media Player...?
I have two questions:
1) How do you create an album? Or edit one? I have recently transfered about 300 songs (don't ask me why) and now EVERY song has it's own album. It's kinda annoying. I can always make it show only songs instead of albums, but it looks better with albums. 2) Media Player didn't update correctly. Is there some option to update it manually? As i already said, i transfered over 300 songs, and when i enter media player, under "songs" it says i have 209 songs. I tried restarting the phone, but it didn't solve it. Please help!!! |
Re: A little help in Media Player...?
Try to reset tracker from x terminal wit h command
tracker-processes -r And question 1 I do not understand. .edit Did you randomly choose 300 songs or are those full albums. |

Re: A little help in Media Player...?
I'll give you some more informations. The songs are from Benny Benassi. Most of them. Others are from David Guetta, Felix da Housecat, ... But that's not important. What i want to do is e.g. make an album for Benny Benassi's songs, Felix's songs, ... But i have an album for every single song. I mean when i enter some album, there is only one song inside. Can you help me with this question? And thanks for the question 2. That solved it.

Re: A little help in Media Player...?
You can edit it directly from your computer once you plug in your N900 in Mass Storage mode. Get something like mp3tag and with each Benny Benassi song (select them all), under album, give them all the same name, and you'll have your satisfaction.
Seriously though, what you want to do is filter by artist rather than by album anyway. As long as the artist field has the correct name (and not Benny Benassi feat. David Guetta etc). The media player groups everything by album name (for album search), genre, artist and so on. For example, I have around 800 songs with the genre "Dance" over 30 albums and 350 artists. 400 songs over 21 albums and 84 artists for the genre Hip-Hop and so on. |

Re: A little help in Media Player...?
But you can choose from top menu artists -> select preferred artist (btw you can make search in media player by just typing words) -> it shows many albums but you can hit suffle songs and it plays/adds all the songs from selected artist to playlist.

- import all songs to e.g. mp3tag - sort all songs by artist column - Select all songs from on artist (select first and select last with shift clicked down) - Now you can edit whole groups album BUT remember to take backups from your orginal music files if you start messing around with tags. |

I've done this before. I have a folder called "loose songs" for all those singles and songs that I have on there but not the whole album. The only annoing thing is that any picture (album cover) attached to the song will follow it around everywhere. |
Re: A little help in Media Player...?
The other thing is that it looks like you want to look at albums so if I were you, I'd just use the artist view instead of album view, it'll be a lot easier.

Also, mp3tag is a free program, so use it. It's one I got and found it very simple to use. |

YES I agree that this could be taken care by maybe little bit of coding from Nokia, but on the another hand i think that you should also clean up your tags. |

And get back on here and let us know if it worked :)
I spent a long time sorting out and tagging my albums with correct tags and album art :) |

For that I set the settings so that it saves the cover into the same folder as the song as cover.jpg so that the N900 will pick it up when refreshing media. |

I use Windows Media Player for my mp3, and I have all my album art loaded on Window Media Player.... My problem is when I sync all my albums to the N900 media player.....I am missing some of my album art. I think it's because of the resolutions on Windows Media Player...some are 500 X 500, some are 200 x 200. QUESTION: what is the correct resolution for the n900 media player? Thanks. |
Re: A little help in Media Player...?
resolution should not be the problem but it might be that you have some .png that I belive N900 doesnt support.
Get Mp3tag it is great. simple to fix tags and albumart. It really is a great feeling when all tags are perfect. I have ripped all my CD's and got tags and albumart just perfect on 1400 albums took some time but it is worth the job! |
Re: A little help in Media Player...?
i am definately going to try mp3tag. the music player on teh n900 is fine if your music is properly organised. otherwise it can be a bit crazy to say the least
