N900 mini?
is this possible?
when i bought E61i....E71 came out bought N97...N97 mini came out i personally prefer smaller phones and wouldnt mind if they took out tv-out and other random stuff do you guys think there'll be a n900 mini? |
Re: N900 mini?
nope...////

Re: N900 mini?
Quick answer: no.
Mini versions are for standard users. N900 is not a standard user phone, a mini version would be useless. |

Re: N900 mini?
I'm also hoping for N900 XL :)
|
Re: N900 mini?
probably not because the n900 is not even a flagship device so Nokia is not putting much focus on it. Maybe in the maemo 6 phone they might have a mini version. But then again, the maemo 6 phone is somewhat like a mini n900 isnt it?

Re: N900 mini?
yeah.. n900 XL would be nice.. if it has bigger screen..
|
Re: N900 mini?
Mee too :) Bigger screen is better. 4.3" would be nice :)

It's just a phone, no need to have a big screen. 3.5'' ok already. Then you just buy a laptop or a table pc for a big screen. |

- Having bigger screen to watch my satellite/DVR via slingbox would be "better". - Bigger screen may eliminate/greatly reduce the need to use the stylus, which would be "better". - Having a bigger screen may include having a bigger device overall, allowing for larger antennae for better reception, would be "better". - Having a bigger screen may include having a bigger device overall, allowing for larger earipiece, so one could hear phone calls better, would be "better" - Having a bigger screen may include having a bigger device overall, allowing for larger battery for longer useage periods would be "better". |
Re: N900 mini?
why not just get an archos media player, it can do all that above.
Larger screen also uses more battery, larger antenna uses more battery, and larger earpeice uses more battery. So longer battery life is not exactly going to happen. If your earpeice isnt aleady loud enough for you, then use speaker. When I mine to the max, i can hear it from 5 feet away, any louder and it would the same as a speaker. Ive never used my stylus once on the n900 and i have big hands anyways, we can improve every part of the phone if you wanted it big as a computer, but the whole point of a phone is to be mobile. If you need a phone that big, I would suggest just getting a media player/internet tablet on the side. but then again, its all about opinion. these days, everyone wants micro sized smartphones, which is why everyones making them so thin. Its what (most) people want. Personally, i would never buy a phone that big and im sure the majority agrees, which is why Nokia will likely not make it |

A larger antennae would use "less battery" as the device would not have to fight as hard to maintain a signal in weak reception areas. Having a larger displacment speaker is not going to draw any more power...a watt is a watt, but a centimeter or more cut out for the earpiece is more than what is currently available, let alone a bigger driver. Having a 10-15% larger screen would not negate the 50-100% power gain from going to a "double thickness" battery (Droid has larger screen, w/higher pixel count, yet yeilds similar, or longer use times). I'm glad that you never have to use a stylus, but posting and navigating on the forums that I frequent are difficult using fingers alone, w/ default font size. Just because someone would find a slightly larger screen for the 900 "beneficial", does not mean that they need to forgo the device altogether. |

Re: N900 mini?
n900 already is a mini.....
E: it hardly covers n800's screen, just matched. |
Re: N900 mini?
if you want it bigger -> there's already one: the iPAD !! :D:D

Well, except for the Dpad part if it means losing the arrow keys. I find the n810 Dpad too mushy, and a different direction than the one I intend is often registered. |

Re: N900 mini?
I too would prefer a slightly larger device... bigger battery, bigger keyboard, bigger camera (for more light collection and less noise), and a couple high quality hardware buttons (home screen, task switch, and phone controls would be nice).
...and a pony. |
Re: N900 mini?
Camera I doubt you'd get a bigger sensor sadly. But yeah a 4" 4.3" or thereabouts screen would certainly be nice.

With a Bigger 6 inch screen and a bigger battery and a 120GB Hard Drive and Intel Atom 1.6GZ Processor and a Gig of RAM!!!!! I WANT A MAEMO 6 NETBOOK IN MY POCKET!!!!!! |
Re: N900 mini?
i was hoping for for a multitouch resistive + 12Mpixel camera. that would make the N900 a killing device. fuccccck yeah
|
Re: N900 mini?
Well it would be very neat to have a compact camera style sensor + extending lens protected by an auto lens cap. It would probably take up a 2cm circle, the depth of the phone, but if it only made the phone 10% larger and saved me from carrying around my real camera... that would be sweet. :)

Re: N900 mini?
Since when did size matter? It's what my n900 can do that I care about. ;)
