|

Re: On Screen Keyboard
When you're typing, close the physical keyboard and tap there where you're writing.

Re: On Screen Keyboard
then there is a problem. it doesnt work in any text box? Not even in sms? What firmware are you using? Did you install any keyboard apps that might have messed it up somehow?

Re: On Screen Keyboard
version: 2.2009.51-1.002
no keyboard apps install. and just tested on: Web Browser (fail SMS (Fail Notes (Fail QStarDict (WORK anyway will they fix this problem on the next version? |
Re: On Screen Keyboard
well your the only person I know with this problem, so theres no way of knowing how or when it will be fixed. if you can get it to open in Qstardict, i dont understand why it wont open anywhere else...seems like it wont open with the native nokia apps, but opens wit 3rd party apps. interesting. install abiword or leafpad and see it works there. Also try in the x-terminal.
Also, what country is your n900 from? |
Re: On Screen Keyboard
Abiword (unable to install
Leafpad (Fail x-terminal (Fail I order my N900 from newegg.com, dont know what country they go it from. My Language and region setting are English (US) |
Re: On Screen Keyboard
I guess the only solution left would be to reflash your n900.
|
Re: On Screen Keyboard
I guess so, thanks
|
Re: On Screen Keyboard
before reflash, try reboot first.

Re: On Screen Keyboard
Have a look at this:
http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...1ECE4DF649DD15 There's a test to see whether the keyboard sensor works. Also the last post on that thread offers a possible solution that might be worth trying: Hey guys, had the same problem. Turned out the solution for me was the following: |
Re: On Screen Keyboard
I'm sorry for your problems, but I must thank you for the general info. I had no idea that the way to activate the vkeyboard was to click a textbox with the phone closed. I thought for sure there was some keyboard combination that I simply hadn't learned yet (btw, isn't there some kind of vkb you CAN call up with keypress combinations?)
Anyway I had pretty much resigned myself to not using the VKB. Thanks to you for letting me know how easy it really is! So, about your problem, you did click SAVE after you checked off the VKB checkbox, yes? Just asking. |
Re: On Screen Keyboard
I had the same problem. I uninstall Scim and Googlepinyin, problem solved.

I would install the 2 programs when I travel....cant handle without virtual keyboard, especially the specail characters, <>*&^%, even your hardware keyboard 'Symb' does NOT work. bun |

If you have scim installed instead, good luck.... I installed scim and something else earlier and it ruined my virtual kb. The vkb became an empty box with only the minimize button. I tried many things but end up re-flashing my phone to bring back virtual kb. |
